My advice: DON'T BUY SONY:)

Why? : I make a clean install ,new driver from vaio-link.com . Now i read that the new version of bios resolv some isue with power management and I'm go to work. Make the update , Vaio Winphlash report : succesuful, please turn off your computer. Big mistake :) , turn ON=NO WAY.

Oki, sony don't offer support in Romania. So, I desolder the bios (SST 49LF008A), put in programmer, write the .wph file, verify, and solder back. Same problem, I think that sony write the boot code to the other adress, or the .wph file is incomplete. I need a dump bios image, or a chip already programmed. Any help is userful...

P.S.:Sorry for my english..

Hi! Daniel

Your Sony "VAIO" does not seem to be listed on the Sony site, try this link and put in details
of serial number etc:

http://www.vaio-link.com/model/model.asp?l=en&ax=0

Good Luck
Kind Regards

Daniel,

The winflash file should be complete. It should contain the correct usable image starting at 00000 to 7FFFF

...after 7FFFF should start the winflash data.

Thank's Victor, but, the only way to provide the serial to Sony support is to have access to the bios. This model was buyed from Italy. My client recieve as gift from his brother without anoher paper or cd/dvd. This model don't have any serial listed ever top /bottom of case.

Without serial, I can't post a case to esupport site. Now, this is my laptop. I paid it to the costumer , after this succesuful bios update. ):

Joe , thank's very much, tomorow will try again.., maybe with some luck.

Any way, I suspect my programmer that is not error free.., so in this case i preffer to buy an already programmed chip. Problem is from who/where ? (and the cost ofcourse :) )

Daniel,

Does your programmed verify the data and compare it to the buffer or disk file loaded in memory after programming is complete?
