I have 4 PC's on a network. I used to run them off a server. But now they're all connected to a Linksys cable router with ATT cable @ 384Mbps up/1500Mbps down. Online gaming is the best thing since color TV.
I used to have four machines and a laptop, but now Iím on my own, I just have two machines. My Athlon for gaming and surfing, and an old Cyrix 233 running a Genome client and all my instant messengers (so I can see messages from Clan mates whilst Iím in a game). Theyíre connected by some old BNC 10Mbps cabling. Donít need anything faster, and itís fine for a little LANíing when the lads come round.
~ The manual said "Requires Windows '95 or better" ...so I installed Linux!
Ive got my 2 athlon 1.1Ghz systems running XP SP1 1 set up as ICS Gateway, would get a DSL router but im too far away from my exchage to get it, Ive got the Proliant just managing to run 2000 server acting as a file server, My sister has got a p2 233 Dell latitude laptop, and im setting up a p1 133 machine to act as my main firewall cause i havent got enought cash to buy any more licences for new machines.

Me and my 2 house mates have a total of 7 computers in our house, 5 are usually on our network. We each have a main computer, I have a second computer and a laptop, we have a computer for watching movies and downloading connected to the TV in the living room, and a laptop at the kitchen table just in case.
i have 2 on a home network. Each one is one thier own IPs. My primary puter is a AMD 2700 w/ ATI 9700pro; secondary is a AMD 2000 w/ Geforce4 ti 4600 which is used as a Flightsim2002 server that runs 24/7.
I have 4 PCs on my home network but have 6 computers the reason being i haven't got a larger router yet so when i do i will have all my machines on it.......all are running XPpro except one which is running 2000 Server ....oh and i guess if you count the X-box i have 7 but i won't get into that right now
I have a wireless network with a 667 MHz Celeron and an Athlon XP 2000+ on it. Router is a Netgear 802.11b, I've been amazed with how fast it is, even though I'm upstairs and it's downstairs. I was worried I wouldn't be able to play games online. Now I find that my connection is faster than that of tons of people I play with. I have had broadband for about 2 weeks now. It's the best thing ever! What a difference from my old 28k modem! That's right, not 56k. 28k!!

Let's see. I have a 2800 athlon pc with the ASUS-A7N8XDELUXE, connected to a Microsoft Wireless router via a Microsoft Wireless USB connection. I'm sharing that wireless connection with a wired lan connection on the Asus Deluxe. I also have two laptops going wireless to the basestation (laptops: Averatec and a Dell). Now that I've got my 2700 athlon pc going with the ASUS-A7N8XDELUXE also, I'm going to wire it to the 1st 2800 athlon pc for gaming on the net.
I have a DSL connection 256/128 that's connected to a Linksys one port Cable/DSL Router. I have that Router connected to my Linksys 5 port hub, and we have about three workstations and a laptop. The laptop and two of the workstations are XP SP1 and the one workstation is running Windows 2K Pro. I also have a printer server hooked up to the hub also.
Update: I got a Linksys BEFW11S4 (Bad idea) and with in 15 minutes i was sending it back to Amazon.com for a refund cuz, it broke. so i went to best buy and got then Netgear MR814v2 and it works like a charm. 1 wired PC, 1 wireless notebook, 1 wireless desktop
~~I'd like to think about myself as a very advanced computer technician but it wont happen till i get a job
Well come to think about it I am attempting to wire my house also. I am putting on an addition that will be so sweet with the wiring in the walls, but the remainder of the house is so hokey attempt to dig in the walls etc. I will put all the 'stuff' in the addition (cable modem switch router etc) and then just string a few into the bedrooms for roomates.
