Hi everyone,
I was looking at these two cpu's and I noticed that the FX-60 (2.6Ghz) is running 200Mhz slower than the FX-57(2.8Ghz). Can you briefly explain why the FX-60 is faster than the FX-57? (in terms of architecture)

here's the link

FX-60 is a Dual Core, it has two physical processors, whereas the FX-57 is a single core.

The FX-57 is the fastest gaming CPU for single core.
The FX-60 is the fastest gaming CPU for dual core.

Both are great CPU's but with an expensive price tag. If you are into gaming & also like to OC, this is what I suggest.

Instead of the FX-57 San Diego Core, the Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.20 GHz w/ 1MB L2 is also based on the San Diego Core - and can be OC'ed to FX-57 speeds quite easy. That would save you at least $700usd & with that savings you can get yourself a high end card like the X1900's or the 7800's.

For Dual Core,
Instead of the FX-60 Dual Core @ 2.60 GHz w/ 2MB L2 - you can get yourself the Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.20 GHz w/ 2MB L2 - and OC it quite easy to FX-60 speeds. This will save you once again at least $700usd so that you can get something better like graphics or mobo, or even 2 x 150GB Raptor drives ;)

Anyway, if you have the cash, then by all means, but some little advice .

Take Care,

Don't rule out AMD so fast, they can't be the best all the time. ;)

Yes, I agree with Mothow. I forgot about the Opterons.
