OK, I have got on really well with the computer systems designs, I've made a start on the builds that I will be working on over the next few weeks.
As the layout has been updated ( maybe no one saw the old one)
Please give your feed back on the computer and the actual page layout.

Thanks... :)

Sorry when I posted the link it was one of my peak times so there are lot s of people on the website. so it tends to slow things down. I would also thinkt hat the miss-direct on the images would have slowed things down.
I have re worked the URL to absolute paths for the graphics, But be aware, this is a testing site thats not been configured fully for external viewing.

- Spelling, You talking US English or UK?

Spelling:

To check this on any site build - simply CTRL + A the page into word and hit F7. There are a few grammatical errors as well as spelling.

Navigation Arrows:

The 3 arrows at the top failed to load even after 3 refreshes?

Look & feel:

I personally think it looks a bit like an educational/governmennt site - a bit too white. Change the background to anything but white - sore on the eyes if there's large blank spaces.

Your text blocks need to be justified (layout) and not stuck to one side.

As I say Rory, you have some serious hardware on offer here but your website, at the moment, will turn off the serious buyer.

Takes it a while for me to load too. The upper-right side looks like a train wreck: it just looks unorganized. I'll take a before and after image of what I'd do there.

Before

After

The other two things that really bug me is the "business" on the left and right. I think you could fix that by eliminating a lot of the things on the right and by placing more than one thing on a single page or use an interactive menu to clean up the options a bit. Making the good stuff stand out always helps.

Other than that, it's pretty good.

Nope, still slow for me (2.5 mbps down). Also, that background image isn't the greatest. I can tell that it's repeating and where the repetition break is. A solid color may be better and help with download speeds/bandwidth.

The Main Menu and Useful Links are well done - mirror this over the other side Rory, related items & latest news etc... all about a balanced look :-)

If you make your pictures bigger this could eliminate some of the galring white spaces.

Try a charcoal background (solid) with either a light grey or white font - just to see?? Post it back.

I don't know what's essential to you but you could certainly move About and Contact Us to the bottom. Perhaps move "Computer News" to the bottom too because I highly doubt it will help you sell a computer. I feel that "Computer News" really doesn't add much to the site worth while so maybe you could do away with it altogether.

You could easily group various computers under a single title too. For instance, I would break it into maybe four categories: Gaming, Server, Mainstream, and Special. If you make general categories stand out with the specific systems listed underneath, it will help ease the clutterness I'm gathering right now.

Examples of what I mean by moving it to the bottom:
http://www.cnn.com/
http://www.tigerdirect.com/
http://www.newegg.com/
Pretty much all the big name sites...

FX-60 alternative??????

C'mon Rory!!! Either its an FX-60 or its not, that'll put people off.

If its an OCd 4400+ or 4800+, offering more memory bandwidth (hence 'better alternative') then let people know. I have these images of a Cyrix Dual core or something sitting in the rig................

**EDIT**

BTW, what ram are you using? I just noticed 4gb BH-5??

Dub, Made you happy, not named but added discription. OCZ RAM of course..DDR500

I Didnt want to cat the computers, As we should know, a gaming system require the highest level of perfromance, how ever these computer sare generally good at doing anything - such as video editing ( well should be)

I wanted to put computer news on there as it will show apt-ness to the computer technologies, Im sick of people who are about two year behind who dont even know what PCI express is about.. believe me there are some still about!!
The main mix of the systems is the GT * computers where the name really doesnt say what they are. GTVS could mean Very Slow not Value Systems.

In general I think that people who have been to the site, know the computers would find it esy to get what they want. I put gaming computers on there as the link for the GT ULTIMA and GTVS are two seperate things, Before they were all linked under high perfromance computers, that really didnt work to well as it didnt split the price's so computers under one section went from 750 to 36K which isnt really good.

A lot of people will start at the highest priced computers and work there way down, or you will get the cheapo people starting on the bottom and working their way up.

I have Choice on the menu becuase I dont want people to not buy becuse they dont like the case.. Lots of times people have said, can I have a different case..different HDD and that sort of thing, so it was important to get that out of the way.

I have had a bit of a play with it all and done some changes..

Those choices should be under the system itself. People looking at the Ultima, for instance, are rather unlikely to look under "Choices" for a difference case design as "Ultima" and "Choices" are unrelated in terminology.

Explain that to them where it is applicable. For instance, how TigerDirect lists their computers for sell (lists every reason why you should get this computer in detail even if it is often copied and pasted):
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-detai...CatId=1307

That's a good point because, I didn't know what VS, or a lot of the other abreviations you use, stand for (i.e. still don't know what GTWCMT stands for).

Cheers Rory!! Excellent choice in ram, I never doubted you!

But the CPU................... ;-)

Maybe instead of the choices menu, which is a bit broad, under each machine you could have a 'configure my system' with options of certain things you can change. Now, seeing as you want to keep the name of each system applicable, dont let them change anything really specific to that system, i.e. in the Ultima, dont let them change CPU, GPU or Mobo. But let them configure less ram, HDs, optical drives and case (put case change as a 25 extra charge for instance)

>> Re: Tell it straight..
Choice applies to all computer that are built not one, There is info on each page saying there is a choice, I didnt want to list the choices on each and every page.

The idea was to:
Let the user see that they can alter the computers, what cases were on offer (is unlimited) And that this applies to all computer systems throught out, but with limits on water cooled computers because of fitting it.

With regards options on the site, I dont want this, It causes more issues than you can imagine, With case changes, I would need to built a system builder, Because cases prices change alot, it would be up and down.
I perfer to deal with people directly, That way I knw what they want and can change to suit them,
AKA, the use of a computer will dictate the HDD model and specs to benefit, its not 80Gig 200 Gig, its just Seek, cycle, and that sort of thing to me.:)

4800 is actually faster in alot of applications than the FX60, What I will be doing, is a dual dual core opteron system for the ultima range.. Lets just say that the comptuer on the link isnt what I would call fully spec'd out. but I dont want to stamp on the GT DREAM systems which are a almighty spec..

See 'about page' for info on the rought specs of the system ranges..( design spec's short)

Ok, Im confused, but i'll give you my take again

When I'm on this part of the site

http://www.gtwcmt.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=...;Itemid=39

I want to see some specs and what you can do, it to me seriously 2 minutes to find the link, and I don't even know if that's the right link, and no, it isn't...

It takes me here

http://www.gtwcmt.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=...;Itemid=39

which I have no idea what the hell it is. Personally, I find it hard to navigate, I mean, if I have to think about where to click, like puttin a puzzle together, no offense, but I wouldn't use the site. I know you have put a lot of time into, but I'm just followin the subject line.

I would like to konw, when Im on the home page, how to get strait to system specs, I don't want to read about reviews, I want the hard facts, not the glossy bs first, that can come later...lol...

i posted this in your other thread, but, overall I like the site, here is what i dont like

1) the text at the top, middle. it looks out of place
2) the banner isnt good enough, it doesnt match the look and feel of the page... looks drab.

I can help with the banner if u want.
