My DVD is running at 1.98x and I do think why is this happen ...

I ran through windows help file and found out about enabling DMA. I make my way to Device Manager --> IDE/ATAPI controllers --> Primary IDE controller (which i'm using right now)

but to my surprise .. i only can select DMA 5 for my master drive (which is my HDD) and only PIO for my DVD drive ...

I open up my mobo manual and search for DMA and its said that it support DMA transfer speed of 100/133MBs (I think..~)

my question .. is it my mobo configuration that i forgot to change or my 2004-manufactured DVD drive itself

ps - I'm using NERO CD\DVD benchmark tools

Have you seen Fallout 3, it was awsome ~!!

Try installing the latest drivers for your motherboard.

To enable DMA on a DVD drive, go to Device Manager ->CDROM -> select your DVD drive -> Properties -> Settings tab -> and check the DMA box.

I played with some IDE cable and tried something else ...i let my HDD act as a slave and my DVD as the master drive ... it changed my DVD drive mode from PIO to Ultra DMA mode 2

It works well .. and I finally got 15.98x read for speed in NERO CD\DVD Speed ...

But (I'm afraid this is getting to get more DVD-er than just a mobo thread) .. when I play DVD movie, I'll get a choppy framerate and when I run NERO Drive SPeed ... the maximum amount of speed that i can set to my DVD drive is 2x.

any lead ??
