I cannot for ht e life of me figure out how to get this thing to run at 133 mhz fsb, when it is running at 100 mhz everything is fine but the processor only goes at 1.8ghz, instead of the 2.4 it runs at in 133 mhz fsb mode. I have reversed the shorts on the jumpers like the settings on the mobo say, but when i try to turn it on nothing boots up, if i reverse the jumpers back to 100mhz everything works fine?

Do i need to change the voltage of the flash rom for the higher cpu frequency to work?

Double check there website and make sure there manuals are correct.

The bad thing is that alot of these vendors are from Taiwan and then they badly translate them into English.

So, sometimes they've been known to be incorrect.

Check the ecs website bball. I think one of the bios ROM updates out there is for FSB timing and stability.

Please see my post on memory bus issues...
let me know what kinda memory config you have.

bball check your book you got with the mobo,on the first couple pages you will find your answer. In Intro. and also Features under processors it will NOT take a 533fsb Cpu only 400fsb that means no 133mhz .Everytime you start to go to 133mhz for 533fsb it won`t boot then when you go back to 100mhz 400fsb it will. No need to try. I worked weeks trying to get it to work even at a comp. shop to no avail ! It will not do it ECS lied to you. Look in the can`t flash P4VXASD2 section .Any section you find with P4VXASD2 in it you will see this same trouble. It is a good 100mhz 400fsb mobo but forget the 133mhz 533fsb .Check them out you will see SORRY .I had to buy a new mobo to get it to work. Thanks

I should have asked you first; do you have a 533fsb CPU if you do go get you another mobo,if not then run it in 100mhz that is for 400fsb and it will be ok. Thanks

forgot to ask, why would fry's sell this board as a combo with the chip i got. And what is the purpose of having the jumper to change the cpu speed to 133mhz if it cannot run at that?

bball I got no Idea. But if you look thriugh the forum ,anywhere you see
P4VXASD2 posted you will see I am telling you the truth. There has been 3 people said they got it to work but ??????? I owned one it done good in 100mhz but would`nt boot in 133mhz. If you look in the Intro. and Features under processors you will see for yourself. Pages 1 thru 3 I believe . Good luck

I have 4, count 'em - that's FOUR of these motherboards.
I have NO complaints, NO problems, other than the obvious error in the jumper section of the manual.

I have P4-2.4 cpus, I bought them at Frys and they ALL run PERFECTLY for me WITH 133 FSB.

My suggestion is to double and even TRIPLE check these specific jumper settings:

For 133 FSB:
JP1A1 - Short 2-3
JP1B1 - Short 1-2

For DDR RAM:
JP1 - Open
J2A/B/C/D - Short
J3A/B/C/D - Short

here's an update, i returned the first board to frys and got another one.
I set everything up again with all the correct jumpers. I started the computer up and the bios started fine and recognized the 2.4 ghz processor running at 133mhz. Then when i saved the settings and exited the bios the computer restarted but no activity was visible on the monitor. So the same problem has creeped up again.

Could this problem be because i am running a 300W power supply? I have read in other posts that hte problem might be a lack of power to sustain the processor at 133mhz.

I have 2 cd drives and 2 hds connected to this computer?
any ideas?

by the way when i change hte jumpers back to 100mhz it works fine

No bball I don`t believe it is the PSU ,if it were I don`t believe it would work when you put it in 100mhz.

We bought a ECS P4VXASD2+ mobo + Intel P4 with DDR ram from Frys and got it home and it wouldn't boot. I got really depressed when I saw all the postings with the same symptoms. But my husband burned his finger on a component that shouldn't have been hot. He thought that might mean something was shorted. Once we pulled the mobo out of the case, it ran great. 133 MHz, all jumpers as stated in the documentation. Put it back in the case and had same problem. Clearly - this mobo in an old case needs a little help. We used some cardboard to make an insulator and punched holes through the cardboard for the screws to go through.

We still had fits getting all the right drivers off the CD, but it's working great now and our son is a happy camper with the new fast system he was able to buy with his own money.

I have 2 ecs MB and one MB will work with p100 p133 2.gig processor or a 1.2 gig. i have exchanged the 2nd one and still the same results. The jumpers are set the same on both boards. the 3 long beeps don't go away on the second MB.
ANY IDEAS?????????????

I replaced my old motherboard with the p4vxasd2 on a system running Windows XP pro. It goes partway through bootup then reboots. It does this over and over. Does the same under safe boot and all other boot options. It gets as far as loading the file mup.sys before rebooting. I tried to generate a boot log, but it doesn't write one.

I can boot to DOS with a startup disk and everything seems fine in DOS. I tried to reinstall Windows XP, but it gets just a little way into copying files to the hard drive then hangs.

Any suggestions?

hi, i also bought the p4vxasd2 mobo and p4 2.4 ghz combo from fry's. there are definitely some problems with it. but for all the people who cant install an os, make sure u format the hdd in some way first. but after i have installed windows 2000 pro, i seem to have problems while running programs that use a lot of processing. the screen either freezes or goes totally black while running graphics benchmarks, installations, and games with slightly higher resolutions(1024 x 740). is it possible that i need to add more fans?? i have a p4 cpu fans, a power supply fan and gforce fan, but do i need more? i'm also using an enermax case. what causes systems to freeze like that??

here are my sys specs:

ecs pos mobo
2.4 ghz 533 fsb 133m
392 mb sdram
geforce 4 ti 4200
wb 120 gb hard drive

please post any comments

The way I check MB's the first time out of the box is with memory only, I do not connect anything else except power and jumper for start. If I can not get memory to work then it has to be assusumed that the MB is bad or menory Is.

Good idea Herb. Also zach you may not want to do this but it is simple, try one stick of ram instead of two and see if it will work? 1 of the sticks may not be matching ! Then after you try this if it still does`nt work then set the jumpers for 100mhz instead of 133mhz and I bet you it will let you install.Good luck zach, post and let me know how it goes .Thanks Roy
