I have heard good about both drives....I guess what it comes down to is the speed, price, and what each drive comes bundled with.

good luck

Assuming both are similar in price, speed, and bundle. I would go with the Pioneer drive. When flashing the firmware, according to the Nec support webpage, it seems as though it only works if the drive is on master and the slave drive, if any, must be disabled. For the Pioneer drive, you just run the flash utility at it will automatically detect it. How's your Pioneer 110? If you don't like it then go with the NEC.

Pioneer or LG. That is it.

Do not get NEC, Sony, Samsung etc. because they do not support all formats. The only companies which support "ALL" formats is the Pioneer & LG.

What do you mean "all" formats, XP?

I like my NECs, btw. I have two 3540s and I had a 3520, worked fine til I smoked it.
