I've updated my os to win xp, but at this moment I 've a problem with my elsa microlink adsl usb modem.
Divers for this modem are ok, de modem work perfect but when I go on the net with IE a blue screen appears with the following message:
driver irql not less or equal with ndis.sys.

When I disable the modem in the systemmanager, no problem occurs.
So there must me a problem with the modem and the networkdriver ndis.sys.
driver, connection settings and modem are ok, same modem on different pc with xp runs well and same provider.
Who can help me?

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, but there was a usb drive.
Have you installed Norton Antivirus? If positive, see its state and change it (Disable or Enable Autoprotect) to opposite. FOr more information search http://www.symantec.com.
If not because of Norton Antivirus, search http://www.google.com for the string:
driver irql not less or equal
Good Luck!

OK. I've been having the same problem for a few months now. and have finally fixed it, well for the last couple of days anyway, and still so far so good. It wasn't my ram, or paging file size or anything else, it turned out to be norton antivirus 2002 conflicting with windows xp.. Upgraded to 2003. and problem fixed. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I've been getting the exact same blue screen ever since in upgraded XP Pro, before then I was using Windows 2000 with absolutely no problems.

It happens once a day. I always keep my computer running and couldn't figure out why I'd have to log in to my computer every morning to find my previous days desktop gone!

It was because my computer would blue screen every nite!

At first I thought it my Virus Protector (AVG), since it was the only app scheduled to run at nite. But now its starting when I open IE! And I think its happened with WinAmp too.

Quite fustrating. My Blue Screen appears for only a fraction of a second.. All I could make out was :

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Any suggestions appreciated.

Bah.. I get the same error using Win2k & WinXP .. I get the error randomly during gameplay. I have 4 devices (usb, vid, audio) sharing irq 16

I also do NOT have any antivirus, security, or utils installed... i get this on a clean format.. no matter what vid options I choose (max or min) I get this error... I would love to find a LEGIT fix for this.

i have windows 2k, and i keep getting that dumb driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. It happens ONLY when i play diablo 2 lords of destruction. I tried updating my windows 2000, and my sound driver, and almost everything is updated but i still get that stupid message which gives me the blue screen and i have to restart everytime. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE US THE ANSWER. IM SICK OF SEARCHING AND FINDING ONLY THE SAME PROBLEM OF MINE.

Problem (semi-)SOLUTION for those who are stuck with an NForce2 chipset:

I deactivated 2 of the 3 USB controllers in the device manager, and UT2k3, who always crashed after running for ~2 minutes with one of those pesky DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screens of death ran without problems. (almost, i also get sound problems with that integrated sound card I use, but i think that's another problem).

I think this will work for those with an Asus A7N8X deluxe or normal. Maybe all those with an Nforece chipset too. Let's hope NVIDIA and Asus are working on this one, because i hate having paid for 6 usb ports (of which i use 5) and only be able to use 2.

I'm looking for a better solution right now, but it will temporairly do.

Just curious.

I'm noticing that this error seems common amongst Nvidia users. I 'm running a Geforce4 Ti4200 on an ASUS mother board.

i was running a GF4Ti 4400 and it was causing problems. Unfortunately i was running several usb devices and norton programs so i couldnt narrow down the problem. its only when i play games that it occurs so i thought it was probably my graphics card. however, i have never tried playing the games with norton antivirus disabled - that might just work. if anything happens i'll be sure to post here first.

Hello everyone:
Yes, another obstacle that Bill Gates created for us. It happens to me too. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_TO with ndis.sys in win xp
ans Server 2003 Enterprise. I am running XP2000+, ASUS A7V333Raid, 512MB of Ram.

So, there are several possibilities that can cause the error.

1) Network Card - drivers are root cause of this error message. Regardless, the message above is triggered most of the time by flaky drivers issued by the manufactures. If you can get hands on drivers that are Microsoft Certified, get it, and most likely, your problem will go away.
See links below and read carefully.....*-:)

2) Check your ram. Some ram chips (even good ones) play havoc on some motherboards. Check this link out and it may solve your problem.

I Have the same problem, but only with Dragons Lair 3D, seems to go for a while then start, like overheated chip acts. Once it starts I can only play for 3 or 4 secs sometimes, then sometimes wont act up for a while.

I Have a Dell Precision 530 Dual P4 Xeon 2.2Ghz, Hyperthreading enabled(though disabiling made no difference). 512MB PC800 Samsung RDRAM, Gforce 3 TI4200 128MB DDR. Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 MP3 card. Seems to me like it is either sound card/driver or multiple IRQs shared, which XP wont let you change.

I hope I find A solution I really like that game!

Tom

i had same problem with xp pro.. i had a modem installed that didn't play well with others. removed the modem decided to go with a cable connection instead. all is well

it is a driver issue... according to microsoft. (of course it couldn't be anything with there beloved windows)

anyway make sure all your "stuff" plays nice together.
