Hardware Analysis Forum Policy Regarding Prejudice and Discrimination

Hardware Analysis is an international community with members from all six major continents who participate in discussions and conversations with one other across all kinds of ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. In addition to the aforementioned boundaries, variety exists within each area with regards to gender, sexual orientation, health condition, and pregnancy.

Being that our community is so very diverse and international, it only stands to reason that prejudice and discrimination of any kind are hindrances to a friendly and effective environment. If an individual feels unwelcome he or she is likely to leave, perhaps never to return. As it is our goal to insure that each individual here has a safe and friendly visit, the following policy is being put into place to insure that our visitors enjoy their stay and return in the future.

This policy serves to protect all members against prejudice and discrimination based on:

Ethnicity / Race
Skin Color
Country of Origin
Religion
Gender / Sex
Sexual Orientation
Health Condition or Medical Complication
Pregnancy

Being that prejudice and discrimination of the above cannot be tolerated, here are the results when this policy is violated:

1st Violation: Warning and reference to this policy with a notice of the results of future violations of this policy.
2nd Violation: Reference to this policy and a one week temporary ban from the forums.
3rd Violation: Permanent ban from the forums.

Note: Depending on the severity and intensity of the violation, certain steps may be altered or skipped. In most cases, however, the above will be the format which is used to handle prejudice and discrimination on Hardware Analysis.

Report a violation: If you notice any type of prejudice or discrimination based on any of the above categories, please report it to the following e-mail address: moderators@hardwareanalysis.com. We will look into the issue as soon as possible and work to clear things up.

Reasoning behind this: This policy is being put into place to help keep the forums as pleasant as possible for our rule-abiding visitors. It is not meant to single anyone out or to cause anyone to feel uncomfortable. If you would like to discuss this policy please post a reply below.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

He posted something against Islam.
Imo, what he did was wrong, but I don't think he should have been banned. Swearing is against the rules, too, but some guys here do it in every other post. Just my observation.

Here's the topic http://hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/56872/

I really wished the policy on prejudice and discrimination were extended to: (1) video card manufacturers, (2) processor manufacturers. (3) end-market computer OEMs. Just kidding :) :)

Tam-the-Bam,

First off, there is Freedom of Speech, then there is ABUSE of the Freedom of Speech. There are things, no matter how much freedom you have, you should never say/discuess/mention, etc. I am all for freedom, but what A.A. was doing was abusing his Freedom of Speech.

And come on, is it really too hard to keep racial/rude/hateful comments to yourself? That is all Michael is asking from HWA.

Again, I fully support Michael in this policy.

Why do people continue to use racist comments after they have been warned twice about it? Did he not care about getting kicked off the forum, or did he really think that there was no chance of him acctually getting kicked off.

"Or did he really think that there was no chance of him acctually getting kicked off."

That is a strong possiblity. Lots of folk these days are taught that they can do or say whatever they want, in the name of freedom, with no form of punishment for doing/saying wrong/hateful things. I hope that we can nip that in the bud before we leave Earth to settle on other planets, other wise we'll have intersteller war, just like in SCI-FI :(.

Darkslayer, I don't even know what A.A had wrote?! All i'm on about is freedom of speech, and i did clearly say that i know this forum and any other DO NOT support those racial comments, etc.

....I'm back, but only as a part-timer... :)
