"System that Runs XP at Blistering Speeds, Slows to a Crawl Running Vista" What a Joke, Anyone know of Any system that Runs XP at blistering Speeds, Not me, not Since SP2 came out, SP1a and below the OS ran at blistering speeds, after SP2 it slowed to a Crawl. Hell even with my Buds A64 X2 4400 system with latest drivers/bios, even patches still runs slow. Thx MS for the OS that is even slower than Win 98SE.

...

From the second I type in my password until my system is all ready to go usually takes about five to seven seconds. After that, everything runs quickly and without incident. Sometimes I don't reboot my computer for weeks and yet it still runs fine.

Agreed. I've never known my machine to lag when running only Windows.

XP a slow ????? You dont know how to set up your computer. There is no two ways about it. I have installed XP on 450 mhz machines and it runs just fine .....
I have have done 100s of installs and unless you have only 64mb of RAM or if you do not take away some of the bells and whistles with those pre-1000mhz machines... XP is super fast..

Yeah, my grandpa runs it on a Pentium II 300 MHz with 384 MB SDRAM. I'm not being smart -- he really does. : /

If Vista doesn't live up to my expectations I'm definatly gonna sit back and enjoy my current setup. It took too long to get my norton ghost image JUST the way I like it.

Lol, tell me about it man. I'm litterally creating new images like every two months because of either new drivers that come out, or whether it be that I find out that there's things that I was never going to use.

I usually dont have a problem speed wise with my 64-bit system. With my Athlon XP setup, now thats another story. WIth 2GB of RAM, its still runs slow as s**t.

Norton Ghost is something that I need to get.

Mike your right it NEVER ends lol. Drivers, updates, patches, changed settings, new programs...You gotta re-image ever week to stay on top. But since my image is over 20GB I don't got that much time to waste. I'll usually make a new image every month or so.

Norton requires alot of time and a little effort, but the end result is DEFIANTLY worth it. I don't ever got to worry about my software failing me. Virus, Trojans, fragmentation and any other random software related problems is no problem for Ghost. Thank God for that. :)

You're right about that, it is worth it. Since I do alot of experimenting on my PC, it's nice to know that whatever I screw up, I can always lay my image right back on -- clean and with no problems. I really need a second computer, lol.

my xp sp2(MCE) pc ran fine until I got a worm/trojan that not even AVG can remove!!!! oh well. I'm just glad is wasn't my new PC.

If this new vista OS offers nothing special or important over xp then I see no reason to get it, but knowing microsoft they'll stop supporting xp soon after the release of vista!
