Guys , help me out here.
Recently I installed a fews plug-ins including Boris Red GL to my Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. Since then I have been experiencing 100% cpu usage anytime Premiere Pro loads up fully. I have uninstalled Premiere and reinstalled again, checked and used system restore, uninstalled the plug-ins, but to not avail. Whenever Premiere Pro is loading up, cpu stays normal. But the moment I open a file or start a new project, cpu usage shoot up to 100% and stays there.

What could be wrong?

Video editing software does not use 100% cpu. I am not new to video editing. I have used Avid, Sony Vegas and Premiere Pro and they all stay at 50 - 70%. If I open Avid, Cpu usage does not go to 100% and if I use Sony Vegas, it does not go to 100% and even before I installed those plug-ins, Premiere stayed between 50-60%. Your answer does not help. Even my other dual processor system stays at 50% when rendering a file, much less when editing. I am talking about editing not rendering.

Wait, wait. Does this happen when the program is actually rendering video, or is the CPU at 100% when it's just idling. I'm not sure if I quite understood, so sorry if I sound dumb.

The Cpu usage jumps to 100% the moment the Premiere Pro loads with all features, even before I open a video file (.avi) for editing. This was not hapenning before I installed those plug-ins.

Adobe Premiere Pro 2 is very inefficient with resources which is why I switch to CS3. It runs very well. I realize there is an expense involved but you can download a 30 days trial for free and see if it runs any better. At least this would tell you if your machine can handle the software.
