  Recover Data
 Date Written

I would like to know how to recover data from a hard drive if it's possible? I have a hard drive that the BIOS S.M.A.R.T detection has said its failing and the hard drive now gives the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM (something like that) is corrupt or missing, at boot up. I wanted to know how I can check to see if I can get the data off. I have an ERD disk, would that work?

Put the drive into another working computer as a secondary drive and copy/backup everything that you need before the disk completely bites the dust. :(

Yeah do what McFly said, but if you couldn't manage to get the data off before a complete mechanical failure, you can go to one of the "data rescue" places and have the data retrieved for a large amount of fee, if you think your data is worth it that is.
