How it Started:
I was looking at Antenna Magnifiers so i can boost the signal of my WRT54G, but then i saw this idea of adding a Strainer (http://tinyurl.com/pbcgb) to the USB Adapter and it greatly increased his connection, as i read, so hell i think i know what i can do!

Supplies:
Globe Shoe Box (Shoes Included )- $50
Aluminuim Foil- $7
Glue- $1
Scissors-$3-10

How it's Made!:
1.Ok I Cut the top part of the Shoe Box Off .2. Then I put glue on the bottom of the box, then i cut out a rectangular shaped piece of Aluminium Foil.3. Placed it on the bottom of the box. now i tilt it on its side and put on more glue and aluminuim foil. 4. repeat Step 3 as Neccessary. 5. cut hole on bottom to fit USB device in Snuggly. VWALLAH! its done! Well im going to go finish it I'll let u know if it works when im done

Plan 2!

I cut a chunk outta a Jolt Can and waiting for it to dry (washed it off) and im gonna cut another hole in the middle and put in the Antenna

Microwave it, that'll dry it right off. Or douse it in gas and torch it, that tends to dispel water as well.

The shoebox didnt work, BrinNutz, it lowered the signal output, i think due to the Square shape, here are some pictures my simulators came up with:

hmm.. or just shape aluminum foil the same way... -goes and gets some aluminum foil-

haha, did the same basic thing but put it vertically and got a 5% signal boost after some tweaking, also instead of wavering from 48-54mbps and sometimes droping to 36, its staying mostly solid at 54 =D

Cut cans and I are mutually exclusive. Any performance gains would be negated by the extreme short circuits caused by my bleeding all over the computer. I have a deep and abiding hatred of cut aluminum cans since childhood.

I wonder if one would get a similar response with a simple flat surface,.like using a CD/DVD with its metallized layer?

If you're seriously interested about antenna design, you ought to check out some of the online documents and various amateur radio pubs about designing uhf antennas. I would bet that most cheap radio gear for computers uses nothing more than a simple 1/4 wavelength antenna, and doesn't even use ground planes.
