BIG price difference! And the MCE one says it is compatible with Windows XP MCE 2005 an I believe I am running MCE 2002

MCE version probably includes a remote and all that good stuff that plain old XP doesn't have native support for.

Not all WinXP compatible tuners are MCE compatible. My tuner, a PowerColor Theater550 Pro (ATI) is compatible with MCE.

Oh... well I should be able to get my money back if it doesnt work. There are only a handful of tuners in the world that will work with such a slow processor.

Microsoft has stipulated that it requires the manufacturer to provide the drivers needed for MCE.

If the product doesn't specifically claim MCE compatibility then it isn't compatible. Any company that would invest in the cost of testing in order to ensure MCE compatibility would want to make it known.

On the other hand, that doesn't mean it can't work. But, you likely won't get any support if you run into problems.

bummer but i NEVER use the Media Center feature because it requires better video processing and RAM to show the visualizations (retarded OEM people). The non-MCE tuner comes with it's own software so I can just use that right?

Yes you can use the software that comes with your tuner, but sometimes the bundled software are crap, for example, my tuner came with Cyberlink's PowerCinema and it's a piece of crap. Thank god that it works with MCE.

nathan if you're trying to record TV then i suggest getting an invite for a torrent site such as demonoid and DLing the episodes after they air, that's what i've been doing with shows for a while =)

Two problems with that:

1. NO ONE will give me an invite
2. 33kbs...

You will need to update your MCE 2002 to the 2005 version so to resolve any possible compatability prob's. I also believe that the Theater 550 & 650 Pro are compatable 100%.

How would I upgrade? I thought this was like upgrading from 95 to 98... You need to buy the whole OS again...
