Today while I was in class doing a test on my laptop my back light went dead, it now makes a random buzzing sound coming from the lower right side of the screen. I can still see my desktop if I put it in the light and if I plug it into another monitor it works great..but its dead.
Does anyone know if it would be worth while to fix/buy a new back light. Or how much it would cost.

Hit it with a hammer until it works again. :P

Talk to Dell's customer support.

Can the back light be replaced? Yes. Is it worth it? That's depents. How important is the laptop to you? Can you afford to be without it? Can you afford a replacement laptop? Can you afford an LCD replacement?
While the cost of the backlight is low, replacing it can be confusing and it is possible to do more damage than it would do to have someone replace it for you. So as I said, it depends.
