I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this (no) but...just wanted to know if anyone knows of any issues with these two...

Getting a heavy trigger finger here to buy a kentsfield quadcore but at 1199 im sure i can wait until vista comes out. At less than 400 bucks I could overclock an e6600 and spend a lot more money on some really good low latency RAM and still spend a lot less than I would just for the kentsfield.

For a single 8800GTX, the answer is no. Lower speed Core 2 Duos are stronger than you think. Secondly, if you can afford the Kentsfield than do it ... because if you're into overclocking, then you'll have way more head room with an Extreme Edition processor. Goodluck.
