Good info ...

When I Prime95, I always crank up the thread priority. You can do this by going to Advanced > Password, and entering the password (it's in the README, it's 9876). Then go back to Advanced > Priority. Read what needs to be read, and select your priority. I usually use 9 or 10.

Yes yes, I know, it says right there "It is strongly recommended that you use the default priority of 1." It also says the program is "unlikely to run any faster" at other setings. That's referring to using the program for its originally intended purpose of finding prime numbers. The only reason the option is there is for the overclockers.

Obviously not a required option, but I always crank it up.

Just use Orthos, the multithreaded version, like everyone else.

Technically, its a tool that was used to try to find new prime numbers, using various equations.

It turned out to be a great tool to stress your CPU, so now its used a lot by hardware enthusiasts to test the stability of an overclocked system, by stressing your CPU & RAM.

Users of Core2Duo should use Intel TAT and nothing else. It'll raise your cpu core temps easily 8 to 10C beyond anything that Orthos or Prime can throw at it. Intel was so worried about quad cores that they canceled the release of the quad core stress version. Core temps were hitting 100C and more using stock heatsinks.

Dublin,

Greetings. I hear you about Vista. Even then, the most useful part about TAT is the recording of temps on the two cores, and it allows the user to re-position the heatsink/block such that the temp diff between the two cores is minimized.

I guess core temp works too.
