Vista offers a host of new features... You just arn't looking for them and/or don't notice them because MS has done a good job of integrating them and making the operating system streamlined so that people don't have to bother configuring every little detail of their highly complex operating system. For example, Vista includes a new sound stack that makes sound cards obsolete. In other words, Vista allows onboard sound cards to offer X-Fi sound quality... that way money does not need to be spent on a new sound card. There are other examples, but I think you should go do the research yourself instead of bashing someone else's piece of work.

For the most part, replying to a very old thread that is almost a year old telling how vista was then and is now is different. It has undergone many changes since then. So saying "There are other examples, but I think you should go do the research yourself instead of bashing someone else's piece of work." I think you should follow your own advice. Because like I said, Vista has undergone many changes since the original article was written.

And yes, to a degree it is still a resource hog. It uses close to a gig of RAM and with the sidebar, for me anyway, it uses alot of my cpu until i kill and disable the process. (and I have a dual core)

Yah, this thread is old, my mistake. I was looking up vista on google because I am thinking of making the switch and this post came up as one of the first few in google when I ran my search, so I assumed it would be recent. My mistake... I guess this is a lesson not to judge things to quickly right? Neither Vista, or postings that come up as the top reasults of a web search...

-Update-

Sander Sassin's post was the first link that came up when searching for windows vista system resources.
