My laptop was working fine today. I went to upgrade my memory card today from a 256MB to 1GB. When I went to restart the laptop, I get a blank screen and the power light/fan cycles on and off at about 2 second intervals for 4-5 times before shutting down all together. The laptop does even go to a POST screen.

I later put the old memory card back in the laptop and same thing. Anyone have any thoughts as to what I did wrong?? I have verified the new memory card was compatible with my laptop.

From reading on Toshiba's site, If you are going to upgrade to 1gb memory, you should use 2 512mb memory sticks. If I read their specs. correctly. Another thing that might be going on is the memory may not be seated all the way in to the connector. From the sound of it, the system is not seeing the memory. Recheck to make sure the card(s) are all the way in and locked in place.
