Hello,

I am creating this thread for several reasons:

1) To list some of the great online vendors that we have personally used numerous times over the years and who have provided us with excellent prices and service.

2) To disclose that when you click on links to some of these and other vendors and subsequently purchase products from them we at Hardware Analysis receive a minor commission. We hope that you don't mind doing so to support this website.

3) To solicit some feedback for more entries to be added to this list, in the interest of #1 and #2 above.

The following are vendors we have personally used numerous times with great satisfaction:

Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/

Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/
http://www.newegg.ca/ (Canada)

http://www.crucial.com/

Buy.Com

The following are other vendors that offer us referral commissions:

Skype
http://www.skype.com/

Would you Europeans mind posting some of the preferred online stores that you buy your gear from? Newegg and ZipZoomFly are pretty much geek household names in the US, but I don't know much about the UK and other locations.

Also, I'd like to setup a page that will list these stores and their current specials and coupons. This thread is just the beginning of that feature.

Also, we're considering rewarding you for shopping through these links.

Sounds like a great thing. How do we note that we're from HWA when purchasing stuff? Or does it automatically happen if we click on a link from within HWA?

You simply need to click on any Newegg link on HWA before you start shopping. I suppose the easiest thing is to bookmark this thread and use first post as your guide.

Just bookmarking the link to Newegg as http://hardwareanalysis.com/action/r/http://www.newegg.com/ would work, too, right?

I wish I had known about this earlier. The MVP hosts file blocks whomever you're using as an intermediary, so Newegg links from here haven't worked for me in a long time. Had I known what the purpose of the intermediary was, I would have unblocked it (and sent some $ from my orders your way). I'll do so going forward...

FWIW, Newegg is basically the only parts company I do any substantial business with these days (though I do appreciate the other recommendations). Their prices are rarely the very best, but after suffering through the customer "service" of some other vendors, I'm willing to pay a few dollars more to ensure that I get great service and a great return policy to boot.

I did not know about this, how long have you been doing this for?

I haven't ordered any stuff in quite a while, but next time I do, hopefully I'll remember to click a link from here first.

No s***? With HWA as the referer to Newegg (and those other sites up top), HWA gets a commission for my purchases?

*updates Newegg bookmark* :_)

We've had this for various stores for a while, but most of them are hardly used. Newegg just started doing this not too long ago and it certainly should work out well.

I'm looking into adding a bunch of more vendors and I'll list them here when I do.

Yep, I saw that a few anti-spyware programs do this (block anrdoezrs.net and a few other domains that are used by Comission Junction, etc). I guess the goal is to stop spyware's revenue source as they frequently make their money this way.

But, why automatically make those terms a link when everytime someone writes it (e.g. http://www.newegg.com) it automatically adds the redirect link that should provide commission, no?
