Recently my VGNT27GP started having the odd BSOD. I wiped it and reinstalled from the recovery CD, reinstalled windows etc and it still had the BSODs, then one day the BIOS password stopped working. What I mean is, the password I had used no longer worked, it said password invalid (I hadn't changed it). I took the laptop to the Sony service centre, and after getting them to understand that my BIOS password was corrupt they said they could not reset the BIOS, and that if they entered anything at the BIOS password prompt the computer would crash.

Does this sound correct to you ? Is it true they can't hard-reset the BIOS ? This laptop cost me $2385 and I've only had 2 years use out if it....now they want $715 to put in a new motherboard (which apparently means new CPU/memory as well because they're embedded) ????
