I have had a problem with 2 different notebook computers and their LCD inverters. One is a Gateway and had a bad inverter from the start. The other is a Dell
and had a good inverter which I parted out to fix another Dell
for a customer. I ordered replacement inverters from 2 different sellers on eBay
which I have done successfully in the past. I received the inverters and they would not work. One seller (for the Gateway) sent 2 replacement inverters and the other (for the Dell) sent a replacement which I just received. NONE of them work! That's 5 inverters (3 from one seller and 2 from the other) I've received that don't work.
I don't blame the sellers because they have happily offered replacements or refunds. I am extremely frustrated to say the least as this has cost a lot of time and money for both me and the eBay
sellers. I've replaced quite a few inverters in the past without incident and I've verified that the bulbs and screens do in fact work with known good inverters from other systems. Unfortunately I can't permanently use the good parts to repair these systems. I even tested the eBay
items in the "good" systems and could not get them to work. Can anyone here suggest anything I might be doing wrong? I'm using a grounding strap and I remove the power supply and battery from the units before I connect the inverters. It's hard for me to believe I've received 5 bad inverters from 2 different sellers; but I don't have the equipment to test the inverters myself other than what I've described. HELP!!!

Sorry to say that you may indeed have gotten five bad inverters. However, you may have also gotten inverters for a different manufactors LCD. I always check the LCD part number and order for that number rather than the manufactor of the laptop because they often use different LCD manufactors on the same madel. in a lot of cases, the inverter will have a part number on it. Check to see that what you took out is what you ordered. Good luck!
