Even with the negative barking from Intel lovers, it still stands that this product along with AMD's entire Quad Line up isn't out yet. There for until it arrives I'll hold my assumptions until then.

clearly your wrong seeing how ATI's cards HD 2900 XTX isn't even yet and the HD 2900 XT 1 GDDR4 is superior to the 8800 GTS, and GTX in Vista, as well I assume XP as soon as drivers get revised.

So it's not okay to make assumptions about Barcelona but it is okay to make assumptions about HD 2900 XTX?

Right......

I don't know if this is the article Sander is referring to or not, but its along the same line. For those who want to see the hypocracy by AMD mentioned in the original article by Sander, here is a link to an article published by Vijay Anand, 2nd Apr 2007 "AMD on the Rebound: A Chat With Henri Richard".

http://www.hardwarezone.com.au/reviews/view.php?id=2229&cid=30&pg=6

Notice particularly on page 6, Competition and Ethics, under the benchmarking ethics where Mr Richard blasted Intel for using slower benchmarks for comparisons. Then AMD did the same thing? Hmmm...

http://www.hardwarezone.com.au/reviews/view.php?id=2229&cid=30&pg=6

Personally I don't care what either company uses for benchmarks as I know what's valid and what's not. But it sux that companies try to baffle consumers with BS.

And to answer the question by Super_XP, give me the gas guzzling speedster over the more efficient and slower system any day. I want the speed for when I want it and can govern a computer to run efficiently for when the performance isn't needed, not that I really care about saving a couple dollars on my electric bill over a year.

From my early days with a '70 AAR 'Cuda, I've disconneted 2 of the 2 barrel carbs and run on 1 for gas mileage while cruzing with stock exhaust in place. When it came time to race, I connected the linkage for the other 2 carbs and swiveled the exhaust out of the way to run open headers. :)

Er, care to show me benchmarks proving that??

Oh wait, you cant, because you made a blatantly false statement.

If you're going on about those bloomin' Crossfire / SLI results from that dodgy site again, I've addressed that in the other thread

Yeah, but then there's that whole mess of having to prove that the site is in fact "dodgy".

Time to play the wait and see game. I don't know about you, but this argument doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast.

It hasn't gone anywhere for close to a year. That's why I always get the feeling of deja vu. :/

yes i know DG and that's why I said "XP as soon as drivers Get revised."

Ford,

I don't know why you even bothered to take my quote from another thread. Seeing how I said the XTX isn't out yet. But Then I compared the XT 1GDDR4 verison to the GTS and GTX that wasn't an assumption. Nice try though.

I'm glad you addressed that DublinGunner. On another forum which shall remain nameless there is an entire thread about the 2900XT and E6400. The best scores barely broke 12000 on 3dmark05. I've got 12,330 on 3dmark05 with the same CPU (at the same 3.2GHz) and a 7900GTX Extreme. I know that a 8800 will blow my 7900GTX away, but it seems to hold it's own pretty well against the 2900XT. I also have a hard time digesting that any drivers are more mature for Vista than they are for XP at this point. :)

Well you see, there's those that know, and there's those that dont.

The difference is astronomically apparent.

Actually I'm going to shut up about the 2900XT now as I just saw a 3dmark05 score that was twice mine (E6600, but same 3.7GHz as mine). I thought he had a crossfire setup until I realized it was the same motherboard as mine. :-s

I can't believe I missed this thread too. Great article, truthful as always.

Ford, Dublin,

How do you guys have the patience to put up with Super XP and Somb@? I'm surprised you guys haven't keeled over from the amount of frustration they seem to always put everyone through.
