It's a really bad idea to let the PSU control the case fans. The heatsink on the CPU is designed to run with the volume of air your fan passes over it. Too little air and it will cook the CPU pretty quick. The fan header on the Mobo just supplies, 0v 12v and an input to detect fan speed.

If you need a quieter solution you need to buy a heatsink designed for quiet running.

why would you want the psu to control your case fans? if your fans are plugged into the m/b then theres no problem and the fans are making as much noise as they were before you installed the new psu. it could be the psu making all the noise. i would return the psu ad do some research into psu's basicly the standard noise level in a quiet room is 30dB, you can get psu's rated below this level. http://www.quietpc.com has one and i assume that you are capable of doing a search on your own.

Get the GlobalWin CAK4-88T. This has a thermistor-controlled fan which automatically adjusts the speed depending on the temperature of the CPU. I have one on my P4 and only hear it when I first switch my PC on and it spins up to full speed. It then slows down and is masked by the other fans.

Kitty,

When you say 'CPU fans' do you mean 'case fans'? Common terminology is that the 'CPU fan' is the one mounted on the processor heatsink. The remaining fans in the case are called 'case fans'

Some people call the tower or desktop unit the CPU and in this case you may be able to use your PSU to control the 'Case fans' but the CPU/Processor fan is best left to it's own devices.
