First off, use your A7N8X Deluxe User's Manual...
Look at the "Advanced Chipset Features" in chapter 4:BIOS Setup, section 4.4.2 or look at page 55. Providing you have the same book as me. Next, here will tell you everything about what to do and how to adjust everything with the chipset i.e. CPU External Frequency (MHz) 166, CPU Multiplier 11x, and many other things. Also go to Google.com and type in your problem and search. 9 out of 10 you will get a responce to your questions.
P.S. Everytime you save something in your bios, and or you turn on your computer, always press and hold the TAB key.
GOOD LUCK

Don't rule out AMD so fast, they can't be the best all the time. ;)

well, most motherboard will come with jumper setting for fsb 100 ( like the GA-7N400L that i have) this is so you dont burn up the amd thats not the barton core.

look in your manual for the jumper setting for the fsb ON THE MOTHERBOARD ( mine will be set it to AUTO which will allow the bios to do nasty thing to the CPU :D )

once the jumper setting is done, go to the bios and select the FSB TO 166 (which gives the dual channel 333 i guess)

To run it at 166 you also need pc2700 ram, make sure u have that.

ffej-
A K7S5A wasn't designed to run with a FSB higher that 150. And that's with a HoneyX or Cheapoman BIOS. You can't run a Barton or any other processor with a 333MHz FSB.

in the manual it says the max processor is 2600+ with fsb of 266, i know the barton has fsb of 333, is there a way to underclock it to 266?

you could do 133x14, but my 2500+ multiplyer could only go to 12.5. anything higher, no boot... 133x12.5=1666 =2000+ speeds

The 2500+ came out after the K7S5Apro did. And I don't see a BIOS update to include it. So your BIOS isn't going to identify it properly. If you want to run that processor at 266MHz FSB you'll need the HoneyX BIOS. You MIGHT be able to run it at ~300MHz (150). But the SiS 735 chipset becomes unstable and overheats around that speed. Try this forum for help with this:

That's all these folks do is mess around with this board. I have one in one of my systems and I love it.

I just swapped the 2500 barton for a friends 1800, his puter is happy with the 333fsb and it works fine there, when i upgrade my mobo well trade back

Overclock it.
Save to Cmos, When the computer restarts, right away, press and hold the tab button, to enable Duel Channel DDR

Do it.

Does any one know anything about the Albatron KX400 +Pro MOBO?
I installed a 2500xp Barton 333. I can get it to run when BIOS are set up, but It locks up after A while seems to run ok if I leave the BIOS at Default, 133FSB 266DDR Speed and 11.5. If I set it up it does see the Processor as a 1.83GHz, But locks UP. I do have 1GB PC2700

Richard-

You need BIOS R1.06 to run a Barton on that board. You can get it here:
http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/bios.asp?pro_id=33

Then you want to set your CPU Frequency Jumper to pins 3-4 for a 166MHz FSB. And while you're there, enabble OTP (Over Temperature Protection) by setting the jumper to pins 2-3.
If you have SW1 (CPU Ratio Select Switch) then set it properly to an 11X multiplier by moving them all to ( - ).
Now go into BIOS and Advanced Cipset Features> Dram Clock/ Drive Control> Dram Timing, and set your memory to SPD.
Now check your processor in Frequency/ Voltage Control> Cpu Ratio, make sure it's at 11X. An your CPU clock should be 166 MHz.
You should be good to go now.

Josh - Thanks for the Info, I tried to update the BIOS, but for some reason I all ways get a "Can't find Source File" error. I tried the other 333 BIOS updates at Albatron's web site also ... Same error. It comes up as soon as I answer "No" to "Do You Want to Save BIOS" (old BIOS).

Doh, anyways, if the BIOS update and the BIOS settings dont work youll need a newer board. The only other possible alternative is to maybe play with the CPU core voltage, but be careful cuz that can fry yer baby!Although it may allow you to boot yer older board with a higher FSB and multiplier setting........This i would see as a band aid to keep you chugging until you get a new board. Visit http://www.buyxtremegear.com and get yerself a nice MSI nforce 2 board for 80 bucks. **note to self** always knew there was a reason i didnt like the word "albatron".............
