There is something called Tim cleaner "think its called that". Akasa make a bottle.

If you haven't any of this i would just wipe off with a lint free cloth. If have trouble use some Alcohol based substance. I have used nail varnish remover before.:)

I like coffee filters for ultra-cheap, almost-no-lint cleaning. I generally just use a little 70% isopropyl alcohol as a solvent, though I've always heard the ~100% alcohol is a much better choice since it won't leave any residue. Much easier to get rubbing alcohol where I am, though, and in practice it seems to work just fine.

I like the coffee filter idea for removing the majority of it. I use cotton balls, but I hate them -- on older Intel chips, with squared (rather than rounded) corners, cotton balls tend to get caught, tear, and leave behind little cottony wisps. Definitely not a good thing. :D. I tend to use Q-Tips with 91% Rubbing Alcohol, found at any local Wal-Mart for the finer stuff, though, and that seems to work pretty well.

For application, I tend to use one of those McDonald's gift cards that you can just grab at the front counter. It makes for one hella thin-yet-functional layer. :D

I use the ArctiClean solvents with paper towels (I think they are Brawny brand).

99% isopropyl alcohol generally works well. (that's the kind you can buy at the pharmacy. Everclear is the 95% ethanol you buy at the liquor store...which thinking about it would probably work just as well)

Remember that the higher purity alcohols and solvents are highly flammable. Don't smoke while using.

(BTW expensive $6/1-oz "nail varnish remover" is usually just $2/32-oz acetone. One hell of a profit)

edit to add-there's a big difference between 70% "rubbing" isopropyl alcohol and 99% isopropyl alcohol I mentioned above. Make sure what you get is the 99% grade.

I use the Akasa TIM cleaner, as mentioned above. Gets everything squeaky clean and smells nice too :-)

I think you can find "citrus based" cleaners for a LOT less than ~$8/oz.

It looks like the same folks that sell "nail varnish remover" re-package and sell "this stuff" too! :)

CD/DVD cleaner cloths work well, though I've heard that WHITE coffee filters work just as well. The type of alcohol you want to use is "denatured" or 99% if you can get it.
Use a q-tip to swab up the maximum amount of the "crud", but use a lint free and water free solvent to finish the job. A single piece of lint can cause a 3-5C hot spot, and water residue can lead to longterm issues.

Any paper towel (I use Bounty) and Acetone or alcohol. Be careful with the Acetone, I accidentally spilled some on my genitals and a weird familiar warm sensation was felt but it burn a lot after that.

Just be careful ok ;)

What were you doing cleaning a processor with your pants off? Wait, I don't want to know.

As suggested, I think I'll give coffee filters a shot next time around. They just don't seem to absorbant though. :~
