OMG the iPhone OMG OMG I seriously have to RUSH OUT and get one now!

Yea right! Don't think so. I think this s**t's lost it's appeal. Technology's more
for the repressed - have to have it - sheep society these days. Just what exactly
is Apple wanting to achieve from this? It's not something that's not been done before.
Touch screens n all that. Big deal. What's happening to the phone? I'll tell ya, it's
sneakily getting pushed aside. o2's got it in the UK, and they're like "Be one of the 1st!!"
That's what it's all about these days. BE THE FIRST to HAVE THIS. Plus the
iPhone's like a brick. They're trying to take over from PDA's and laptops. But they
just don't have the capacity cos they cost an arm and a leg. Plus it costs a fortune
to use their internet. Maybe when BroadBand's on the mobile phones
are at a reasonable price, i might opt into using my BB.

The iPhone is awesome, dude. I would've bought one if I could, unfortunately there's no GSM service here in Wyoming... so I can't use one.

It really is a revolutionary piece of technology though -- and you're not a sheep for going out and getting one. Apple has done something new in the telecommunications industry: They've innovated. They've come out with something different, better, and revolutionary. As a participant in our free market society, you should get one. Reward Apple for breaking the chains of stupidity that currently thrash America's telco industry.

The iPhone is a Pocket PC phone running OS X Mobile which is severely limited. It lacks many simple features such as a keyboard, a MicroSD slot for expansion, and software support from outside of Apple. It's not an invention, it's not innovative. It's just simply everything we had before, with bigger buttons on the interface and a more finger print hungry case.

The iphone is definitely way better than what the rant suggests. But I personally prefer windows pocket pc's. Like the HTC models which are way cheaper and very powerful. Having said that, Apple are the multimedia experts.

Well, it looks nice, thats about it.

Touch screens have been done before, all the features have been done before (hell, my Nokia N70 does everything an iPhone can, and more, but I can expand the memory, change the battery, change the sim card. Doesnt have a touch screen though, bummer)

*sniff*sniff*
I smell a flame....

iPhone not only doesn't support video recording (the lens quality is poor to begin with), it doesn't have java, flash, gps, multilanguage, polyphonic/custom ringtones, IR, usb, voice dialing, radio, and of course no 3G (HSDPA) support... that's just to name a few.

I'd say if you want to experience another eye candy from Apple and touch screen experience but nothing else, go for iphone. If you want all of the latest technological achievements, go for Nokia or HTC....

edit: P.S. Tam, you're right, it's just a hype that Apple (I gotta admit) knows how to start. They don't sell it as a piece of technology, they sell it as a fashion statement. Just like iPod... oh iPod... don't even get me started...

I did think as much. Just like Nike used to be here in the UK, the 'i' of the i[whatever] makes it a selling point as opposed to the actual quality or what the product has to offer. By no means am I anti-Apple. I think they've done a great job getting such a customer base that are willing to get the iPhone. However, I was listening to the news this morning and apprently on contract you're looking at paying about £1200 (or something in that area) accrued over the contract period. This includes paying for the phone at over £200 (which is usually free when it comes to some contracts I've had).

What exactly is Apple up to here? Are they the new SONY or trying to be the new SONY?
What do they want you to have? They'll still make iPods, but still want you to
have the iPhone.

I like my 1st edition N95. I like the lens cover. But man, no way does my N95 take
as long as his did to boot up. His took forever. Mines boots up about the speed as
the 8GB version. The Ngage is pretty cool. Erm has this not been out for a good
few years? The multi-tasking is so much better on the 8GB simply because the
8GB is incorporated into the phone itself which's so much better cos on my N95 - although
I have 1GB of memory - the original N95 uses the internal Phone memory which's
somin like 128Mb and doens't work of the 1Gb SD Card (still can't figure out why??), which
means multi-taskin can be a massive pain in the arse.
Apart from that, the screen's flush with case, larger screen area, and it's black. Nice :)
