there is no sound while playing oblivion, I ve checked the speaker and it works perfectly while im listening to music, works with bf2142, settlers, bioshock, generally all other games other than oblivion! (T_T) im guessing the culprit is the soundcard, and my "XENOZ" freezes (sometimes while i listen to some music) ever since the soundcard is installed.

Update the drivers. Creative just released some new ones earlier in the week.

updating the creative alchemy and stuck in 33% cant go any further...

That's abnormal. You should always uninstall old drivers before installing new drivers.


Also, some games are simply incompatible with certain audio devices. For instance, 25 to Life's audio played at like 10x normal speed on AC'97 (NVIDIA). When I switched to my Audigy 2 ZS card, it worked fine.

no,no,no its software update, the button is on the program so no nneed to uninstall old driver, itll update by itself.

i fixed it....
to play oblivion the card must be on game mode not entertainment mode....
but another problem, the npcs talks too fast and even sword fighting sounded strange......

Have you used the Creative Alchemy program? Remember that Vista gets rid of DirectSound calls, so games with special EAX effects need to be altered with Alchemy to sound right. (I don't remember if Oblivion had this problem, but its always good to check.)

I'm sorry, I didn't notice that line. You don't need the latest alchemy though, I have 1.007 and it works just fine (yes, I've played Oblivion on Vista with no problems). Also, you mention updating Alchemy, but I assume you've also updated your drivers as well?
Here's another dumb question, you mention "updating", does that mean you've also tried to go directly to the creative website and it won't download from there either? (or vice versa, have you tried the Autoupdate software that comes with the creative drivers?) I found that the creative drivers for Vista were stable after version 2_15_0002 (ie, no more problems with any games).

Sorry if this is all old news to you.

yes, I saw that part. You didn't mention your driver version, so I just wanted to make sure because Creative has released a couple of Vista drivers since its "X-Fi Vista CD" was released.
2_15_0004 seems to be the newest version.

Unfortunately other than drivers I don't know what else could be the problem. You have the "EAX effects" selected in game mode right?
