Well I just got one of these yesterday and would like to share my toughts on it in case anyone else is thinking of getting one of these.

I already have a G5 gaming mouse, I also had a G7 and a MX1000. The main concept of the G9 mouse that interested me was the wide grip, having big hands I get the odd cramp when playing BF2142 for 4/5 hrs solid and the G5 like alot of mice I find a tad narrow.

The first thing that hits you about the G9 (Apart form the price) is the build quality. This mouse was given a hell of alot of taught before being made. The wide grip has the most beautiful satin finish and feels absolutely GLOVE LKE (really have to feel to believe) when being used. And feels very natural when being used. The presicion grip is more rough and gives you more finger tip control but is still a little wider then the G5.

The buttons are very responsive and give a deffinite "Click" when pressed and the on the fly DPI controls are mounted directly beneath the left mouse button horizontially and are inline with the mouse body (so no accidental clicking) instead of the two nub buttons on the G5 which stick up. And two on the side which stick out a little but no chance of hitting by mistake as they need a firm but gentle push to activate so to speak. The sensitivity is now 200 > 3200 DPI instead of the 200 > 2000 DPI on the G5 and it does make a big difference in games like when flying attack chopper in 2142 you can spin on a coin to get the nose around that bit quicker. Also the scroll wheel has the wonderful mechanics of the ill fated MX Revolution but with more precise control. I personnally like the "Ratchet" like click when using I find it more accurate but you can change it to UBER smooth by clicking underneath the mouse.

All in all I did not think the G5 could be beaten as it ticked all the right boxes, everything I like about the G5 is here and some. The mouse is the best I have ever used and although its pricey you get exactly a level of performance and quality you pay for which is rare in the PC industry....and absolutle must have for any SERIOUS GAMER out there. The mouse is also fully customisable from the colour of the LED's to profiles....

10/10

How long is the cord? For some reason I can't seem to google it up right now... I'm totally sick and #@$%! tired of wireless mice that cut out and have crummy update rates...also sick of Microsoft mice that work great until the left click button wears out :/

I have a MX1000 and I'm replacing it with a Logitech G5 soon, mostly because I am getting tired of wireless and the G5 is at a reasonable price when compared to the G9.

The G9 is actually cheaper (after $20 M.I.R. :/) on Newegg. Of course, you have to factor in the personal cost of looking at such a god awfully ugly mouse every day too :P

Right now the G5 is $52.99 with free shipping and the G9 is $54.99 after MIR plus $ shipping. So assuming you get the rebate, then the G5 is about $7 cheaper which makes the G9 look like a pretty good value.

The cord is well over 6ft long not sure exactly. But its a matter of opinion on the looks, I think it looks the mutts nuts and I have the LED's bright green its like a sleek Porsche will the metalic inner surface meeting the satin black cover and the gun metal thrown in. It is well worth the extra over the G5...and they are making additional cover so I am told.

Best thing since.....errr....the one before!!!!! lol.

The look of the G9 is starting to grow on me but I still can't help but think how ugly it looks. It is a very industrial design as apposed to rounder look of the other Logitech mice.

Mate I can assure you when you use the mouse you will not be looking at the back or side. And after a few hours the ergonomics of the mouse will blow you away.....

Its that good...

*thumbs up*

This is a really nice mouse, especially for the reduced prices out there now. Wish I'd gotten one sooner...

I use a mousepad with my G5 for that very reason. Those pads on there are so smooth. My MX1000's pads where never as smooth as this G5's pads are. It's pretty amazing coming from a MX1000 to a G5. I imagine the G9 must be really nice too.
