Speakers: Trust SP 3600A 2.1
Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Xtreme Audio (The box also says Xtreme Fidelity)

The 2.1 speakers do not come with a dial to adjust the trebble or bass and the instructions say you need software for this. The website for my soundcard says that you can use their software to adjust the software's dials, but mine only has dials for the volume...

I've tried messing around with equaliser settings. Will this have the same effect? My bass is too loud and it does not sound right if I am watching a film for example.

Sorry, I do not know much about speakers or sound cards.

Thank you very much.

My guess is that you didnt install all of the software from your disks.Creative should have that option in there. Yes adjusting the EQ should work. Adjust the left 2(slides) they will be the ones with the lower frequencies.

Are you sure there's no base control on the volume control knob?
What speakers do you have?

You have X-Fi, so click on START, then PROGRAMS and look for the
CREATIVE CONTROL CENTRE. I can't actually remember what it is to be
honest because i have Vista 64 and Creative can't be arsed to make the
same software that XP has. Anyways, when you run this wee application,
it looks like a silver amplifier from a HiFi system. This is where you can
control Bass, Treble, DSP's, etc, etc. From there you can preset your
desired tone.

This's all depending on IF you have Windows XP. If you have Vista 64, then
you're kinda stuck until Creative can be bothered to get off their fat stinking arses
and get the control centre on Vista. I mean Vista has been out for a year,
and creative are still arsing about? What a joke!

Thanks for that! I tried doing a reinstall and selected 'Full Installation', but this still did not work. The dials do not show where the volume dial is.

I've also tried using the bass and treble slides which come with XP but they are greyed out.

The equaliser improves the bass, but it does not quieten it. Unless I am meant to be doing something else? I tried only adjusting the two left.

I am beginning to wonder if it is because the sound card does not support this and if I should buy a better one.

I can't help cos i don't use XP anymore. It's been a while since i
used it.

But it says I have Extreme Audio... unless that is the same thing?

I also noticed that the only mode I have is the Entertainment Mode.

Thanks for trying to help by the way.

Ok, I'd like you to click on this link :

http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?M...4&y=14

This's the latest driver for your specific model (X-Fi Extreme Audio)

This will uninstall your current software, and update to this, the latest.

I've had a look for you speakers, and can only think that the BASS Control will
be on or at the back of the Sub Woofer. I once had a cheap set of Creative speakers,
and the Bass control was located at the back of the Sub unit.

Once you've installed those drivers, reboot, and check the sound settings where you
checked before, and let me know how you get on

Thankyou! It started installing it but it aborted because there is a later one already installed.

I had another check at the back of the sub woofer and there is no dial. I spoke to my brother's friend earlier (he is studying music) and he said that the equalisers (with the five bars) can give the same effect as the treble and bass dials...

He told me that the very left ones are for the bass and said that around 10 frequency is quite low, so I set it to around that area and it seems to be alot better. It's ashame I don't have the dials though.

I'm dissappointed that this software that came with my sound card doesn't have the features it is said to have.

Maybe it does but I am doing some thing wrong, but there are no instructions saying you have to do anything particular.

Thank you very much for your time. You have been such a great help!

I had the same issue with my Vista 64 Ultimate and was hunting high and low for a work around for my Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio Pci-E. Till now there is no update for such option as the Creative Console are dated 2006 where Extreme Audio Pci-E was release on November 2007.
