It's taller, allowing for more 3" and 5" devices, has an extra rear exhaust fan, and the top fan lights up, something the 900's top fan does not do.

Other than that, I don't see much motivating me to upgrade from my 900.

Upgrade? A case is "4 life"... unless you throw it out of a plane or something. XD

Very true. I did end up ditching my Antec NSK 4400, a very good case in it's own right, for the 900. I needed... actually no, just wanted more cooling, and I'd just upgraded to the baddest system in our LAN party group: I needed to show this thing off.

Sold the NSK to A_Pickle. :) I'm quite happy with the 900, though I hear a lot of people having issues with it. I love it. :D

I was going for a green glowing guts look. Took out the old, put in new an bought a new case for the old parts :P (have since sold it)

I should posts pictures of my 3 PCs sometime.... Nothing compared to some of our members, but I can say I have the best one on my block!

Is that in the Antec 900? I'd love to see that. Personally, I prefer blue glowing guts (see my member profile for pictures) but green looks cool too.

Never liked red guts, though. :(

No not the 900.

My 900 has Blue Exterior glow, w/ Green inner glow XD

I had the space to put a fan on the inside of one of the ducts, So I made it green ;)

The reallllly green one (brand escapes me) is just a nice case. I'll scrape up some photos an post links to them.

Yeah an the 1200 that looks nice in all. Also looks rather large. haha

It looks a little tall for my tastes. I don't like when a case looks like I could tap it on the side, and it'd fall over from not having a stable base to compensate. :P

Ugh ... I don't like the 1200's whole "rounded" look ... I do like the black interior, although on Google Images I see some pics of the 1200 without it, is that a custom job? I'd like that on my 900.

Hi guys,

Just slightly off topic here... Bobby, can you please tell me if your setup allows the use of the IFX-10 that came with your IFX-14? (It's your case/mobo combination that I'm interested in, of course). I would like to buy an IFX-14 for use with an Asus Striker Extreme motherboard, in an Antec 900 case.

And if it doesn't fit as it is (stock), do you think it can easily be modified (either the IFX-10 or 900)?

Thank you,
Alex.

P.S. I seriously doubt that it will fit.

I couldn't use the IFX-10, I had to omit it. The top of the motherboard is just far too close to the top of the case. I wouldn't risk attempting to mod the IFX, but I suppose you could attempt to route out a hole inside the 900. If you do, though, realize that it's at your own risk.

The IFX-14 does a damn fine job of cooling on it's own, though. :) I'm at 3.8 GHz, up from 2.4 GHz, idling at 34 degrees C, and it never goes past 55C, even when I run Prime 95 or Orthos.

Okay, I'll be thinking about that hole :)
Thanks for the fast reply.

It's a very cool looking case, but my only problem with it is that the PSU is on the bottom. My problem with bottom-mounted PSUs is that it seems to make more of a mess than a top mounted PSU.

I would actually think top-mounted PSU's make a bigger mess, because any unused cables are just dangling down, creating airflow problems. With bottom mount PSU's any excess cables can just lay there in the bottom, out of the way. I prefer it, in fact.

Extra cables should be stashed behind the motherboard tray or in another non-noticeable location so dangling wires should not be a problem. In most cases you can easily drop the excess cables behind the motherboard tray (whether its removable or not) and at the top it's easier to do that. Although at the bottom you could do much of the same, it would seem to me that the wires would be more noticeable then at the top and dropping down behind the mobo.

That's a picture of my computer, before I got the IFX, obviously. But really, I don't think that's all that bad. It makes everything that much easier, for me anyway.

Also, the PSU is a large portion of mass. When you put that up at the top, you create issues of stability. The computer gets topheavy. I like it on the bottom, because it never feels like it's going to tip over.

To each their own, I suppose. :)

Acctually I think on other cases, you would have a easier time doing wire management. It doesn't appear that theres much places for the wires to go in that case. It's not bad, but I think it can be improved. I'd probally flip the HDDs around (if possible) and connect the SATA and power cables in the front.

Here are some other Antec 900's I found that might help you straighten out your wires a bit. If you notice, when wires are straight and somewhat tight (with little slack) they look better. Alot of your power cables can probably be directed behind the motherboard tray.

I've been using the Antec Twelve Hundred now for a few weeks and love all of the features that it has offered to me. Between the 5 120mm LED blue fans, to the HUGE 200mm blue LED blow hole on top, there is absolutely no way that this case can retain heat. I didn't count, but I think you can fit up to ten or more hard drives inside this beauty. There is plenty of room for my monster 8800GT card and excellent cable management with holes on the mobo plate to route cables out of sight. Most of the fans have speed controls built in and the big one of top has the ability to turn off the blue glow it gives off. I found the sweet spot sound wise is to have the front fans on low speed, the back fans on medium and the top one of medium. Along with my hawt 850 watt Signature series fron Antec (I love the company) my system is very quiet, which is surprising for it's size. I highly recommend this case!
