I've had a Linksys WRT54G for years with no problems. I swapped it for a Trendnet Wireless N and had many problems, so returned the Wireless N and put back my WRT54G. For some bizarre reason my Internet connection goes to sleep in powersave mode. Now that may sound like it makes sense, but the only part of powersave I use is turning off the monitor. I do not put the computer to sleep or even spin down the hard drives. I have made no changes to these settings between it working and not working and verified they are the same. I installed no software for the Wireless N - I only configured it via the web interface. I verified my WRT54G settings are intact. What could have happened? I use push email from the dektop so I need Internet on all the time. I have a Motorola SB5100 cable modem.

Well to start off, turn off everything in powersaving mode (everything to disable). Then, check your BIOS, there might be an option to turn off NIC - disable it too if you have it. Also check you firewal (some have an option to turn off nic even during screensaver) And lastly, try replacing the nic card. Hope that helps.

In the device manager right click your wireless card and go to properties and then to the advanced tab and select power save mode and make sure that it is disabled not enabled and that should do the trick. Erik
