Tam,
I've not watched the videos, though I'm assuming these are the total emerssion approaches.
I seem to recall, from way back, that the use of vegitable oil, over a long period of time, in a high heat differential environment, that the oil has a tendency to denature, or some such, over time and leave insolvent deposits that could lead to a conductive, or semi-conductive bridging effect between the conductive leads.

Much like what happens in the arteries and veins in the human body.

The use of Canola or other vegitable oils that are very low in saturated fats may lead to lesser buildups, but can still exhibit the same behaviours over time.

I just don't like that idea at all TBH. It's a crazy one at that! I'd never submerge
any kind of component I'd spent thousands on into oil or anything else for that matter
lol

It seems this is posted here once every six months or so, but thats alright, since we got a few new members who might not have ever seen it or missed it the first time it was posted.

A really good non-conductive synthetic that's inexpensive is what's needed.
I've not seen one that stands the test of time as of yet.
My liquid cooling system is filled with a "non-conductive" solution (MCT-80) but it sure conducts when it leaks!!!

Old tehcnology to me, see it years ago on hack-a-day i believe, yet extremely effective... I wonder if motor oils would be superior though

On the subject of cooling can someone please tell me if they have ever used
car coolan/de-icer for their cooling loop? And what the result was, and if it's safe enough to use?
