Oh this is just great! Now at work, in the libarary, in the classroom, instead of listening to lots of quiet tapping noise, I have to listen to people talking to their computers.

Thanks a lot, Bill. Not.

Why has the computer world become so depressing over the past few years? Oh, right. :(

"Windows Speech Recognition in Windows Vista empowers users to interact with their computers by voice. It was designed for people who want to significantly limit their use of the mouse and keyboard while maintaining or increasing their overall productivity. You can dictate documents and emails in mainstream applications, use voice commands to start and switch between applications, control the operating system, and even fill out forms on the Web."

Speech recognition from the above text:
"But a speech recognition when of the standard the contract with a computer with what results is a legitimate limit their use of natural look in your increase in overall productivity. You can dictate documents in emails in major applications use what commands the start of the cleanup agent and will operate as the result boards on the web or a running back caught up in listening"

BTW, I type at about 120wpm, so talking at computer comprehensible speeds is usually a lot slower.

Here's a glimpse of the Future of computing from Micro$oft, the maker of intelligence voice command PC.

Geek: "Computer, increase CPU clock speed."
M$ Voice PC [in female machine voice]: "Sorry, I can not comply! Increase clock speed outside of my normal operating range will endanger my health."
Geek: "Bullsh*t!"
M$ Voice PC: "I am sorry, I do not understand your last command. Please repeat."
Geek: "Open browser."
M$ Voice PC: "I prefer to be addressed as 'computer', please say again."
Geek: "Okay... Computer! Open browser, goto site 'http://www.xxx.xxx'."
M$ Voice PC: "Please wait. Executing your commands."
M$ Voice PC: "I am sorry, the website you are trying to visit contains pornographic materials. It is not healthy for your mind. May I suggest another site?"
Geek: "What are you a saint? You're a god damn computer. Give me my site!"
M$ Voice PC: "You voice sounded rude. I will ignore your last command."
Geek: "Go f**k yourself, you piece of sh*t! Oh, sorry... Computer, go f**k yourself!!"
M$ Voice PC: "Sorry, I can not comply."
[Geek banging on the computer with anger.]
M$ Voice PC: "Stop! You are damaging my hardware. Initiate defensive mechanism."
"Aaaaah, you piece of sh..." [Geek tasered and loss consciousness]

LOL ;)

Edit: I have no idea that link actually works, it's completely arbitrary as a joke. Now it's appropriately fixed. ;)
