Warning! Murderers and Terrorists "Gravitate" Towards Muti-media Piracy!

After viewing the video I would suggest it's more likely that organized crime is simply using music and video piracy as one of hundreds of historical cash-generating venues they might enter into to make money and launder money. It does seem a logical activity for them to get into.

However, the people in the video make it sound like multi-media piracy is responsible for the violent criminal activity, drug dealing, and terrorism.

While I certainly don't condone piracy (owning technology patents and copyrights myself) this type of training is misleading, ramping-up the dialogue associating all music piracy with violent crime. That kind of training can end up getting some poor kid who copied a few songs shot down by SWAT.

(Hypothetical conversation: "Sorry about shooting your daughter ma'am, but her BitTorrent connection proves she was connected to terrorists. Uhhh, by the way, do you use a computer? Just askin' all friendly-like, ya know?")

Is the **IA goal simply trying to get law enforcement so hyped-up on tracking any and all music pirates (in the hope it will help them with violent crime cases) that the industry hopes such added investigatory zeal will inevitably lead to more prosecution targets for the MPAA and RIAA? ...Even if no violent crime is uncovered? Who's going to separate the wheat from the chaff?

Some para-phrased info:

Advice given to prosecutors: "Use music piracy as a tool that will lead you to catching drug-smugglers, drug-dealers, weapons dealers, and even terrorists. It can give you probable-cause to go into a 'drug-house'."

Did you know that music piracy affects the quality of life in your city? (Note that they don't say that violent or organized crime affects the quality of life, they clearly pin it on music piracy!)

Did you know that murderers and other violent criminals are "gravitating" toward music piracy as a criminal ambition? "More often than not." is the answer we are given.

"It (music piracy) is a link to a lot of other types of crimes..." (example given: "Do you want that pirated CD with or without a 'rock' of crack?")

Remind me again why the RIAA and MPAA are allowed to exist. I mean, their purpose is more and more so to become a corporate funded digital policing agency. That is SOOOOOO not right.

I don't know which would be worse product "promotion"...

Selling the crack and giving the CD away for free, or selling the CD and giving away the crack?

I guess if the crook gave away the crack, they could get him for possession, but couldn't convict him of selling illegal drugs. But, for the piracy they could still fine him a gazillion dollars and put his butt in jail for awhile.

I can almost hear the conversation in "SuperMax"...

OldCon: "So, what're you in for?"
NewCon: (mumbling) "Selling a DVD."
OldCon: "What?"
NewCon: (much louder) "Killing an SOB."

Well, according to several advertisements that I've seen, if you smoke marijuanna you are supporting terrorist.
I don't (smoke or support), due to my job requirements, but I know many that do.
Mayhap I'll be waterboarded for the names of the folks I know.
The idiocy of present docturine and policy is beyond anything supportable by the most sane or drugged out individual in any society!
I'm against piracy, and have been for the last 25+ years, but to equate it with terrorism is absolutely insane!
