how can i know if my network interface has the feature of automatic cross-uncross cable?
mine is : Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

What do you mean by that? Are you asking if you can use a crossover cable into the back of another machine (without a switch in between)? If so, then yes; the crossover functionality is a feature of the cable, not the NIC.

No, I'm pretty sure he's asking if the ethernet adapters in the computers support auto-detection of whether a cross-over cable is being used and auto-switching to be able to use cross-over or non-cross-over cables to connect two computers.

The specs should tell you. If not, then about the only way I can think of is to try it with each cable type. It should be transparent to the software and the user.

If you only have one cable, and your network setup is not working, and you're trying to find out whether it's your cable design (assuming you have a working cable) or one of the computers, then you really need the specs for each adapter.


edit to add--
You can also buy a small RJ45 cross-over interposer connector at most computer, office supply, RadioShack stores. Shouldn't cost more than US$10. It lets you turn 2 regular ethernet cables into a single cross-over cable in about 5 seconds. Good for checking such things out.
