Hey guys, tried to overclock my new build and ran into a problem.

1st I know the motherboard isn't the greatest to overclock, but judging from other people over the web, I should be able to get at least 600mhz out of my cpu.

Now, my problem.

Everything is fine and works up to around 300 fsb. (Haven't tested any higher yet)

The only problem is, after I reach 240fsb, it fails to pick up my harddrive.

So basically I'm stuck at 1.9ghz right now. Overclocking intel chips are new to me. Soo......
Am I missing a setting or something? Chipset voltage? Ram voltage? Any ideas?

BTW how do you turn off that annoying cpu throttling thing?

Disconnect the HDD and test the system out without it. Make sure you've got everything else working fine, and then worry about the HDD.

Run memory and cpu tests for awhile using current freeware diagnostic programs. That will tell you if you need to adjust voltages for stability, etc. Once you've got the system stable, then you add components like adapter cards one at a time and see what changes/causes changes.

You also have to look at things like whether your HDDs are on IDE/SATA, what speeds they're set to operate at, or if their connected via integrated mobo ports or PCI adapter cards. PCI adapter controllers can be sensitive to mobo clock frequencies and clock-generated noise.

Check to see if your BIOS setup is running with spread-spectrum enabled or not, and try the other setting to see if it makes a diff. Spread-spectrum is normally used for government regulatory issues, but the setting can affect critical timings when you're on a timing "sensitive" mobo.

You may have to tweak PCI adapter settings (e.g. PCI latency timing) if your BIOS setup lets you do that.

Disable/enable BIOS shadowing, etc.

Perform all changes incrementally, not all at once. Tweak, check things out/run diagnostics, then proceed as warranted.

The more sensitive a mobo is to tweaking, the more important it is to try things one at a time.

Also, with some research I found that others have the same problem with losing the harddrive past 240fsb. It looks like it is a known issue with no solution.
