Forget that they are on sale. The "regular price" of the 6600 is $150 more than the 6750. I though the 6750's were the better processors. Or am I out of touch? I mean the 6600 is more than an E8400. I must be missing something here.

I'd bet it is sort of like how 939 4800+ X2 are selling for $400+ while 939 Opteron 180 are selling for ~$200. The 4800+ X2 are so expensive because all the retailers bought them at those prices. When Core 2 hit the shelves, it completely lost it's value. If the retailer lowers their price, they will take a loss on all their existing inventory. The Opterons always run for a lot of money so people still bought them even after they lost their value; therefore, after the AMD price drops went into effect, Opteron 180's became relatively cheap. Even now I believe AMD is still making limited quantities of them to keep the budget servers running.

Essentially, the same thing happened to the E6### series. When the E8### series hit the shelves, their inventory became instantly obsolete. They don't want to take a loss on the E6600 they do have so the price is still inflated until their inventory is removed. Holding a lot of inventory is very dangerous with processors...
