I want to build a sytem arround the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz and use my two GTX7800 cards pciexpress with nvidia 780i chipset. What motherboard do you recommend.

Asus Striker II Formula or Extreme if you're watercooling (which you should btw as NB on 780/790 boards is running extremely hot)

If you're on a budget then I recommend the 750i chipset. It has great overclocking potential to achieve anything you desire.
