Alright so yesterday i got the HP OfficeJet 5600 All-in-One, brand new. I assembled the accessories that came with it and turned it on. It was working fine, printed a test page, made a copy through the copier. I popped in the installation disc that came with it for WinXP and started installation, connected the USB chord when prompted and everything was working fine for a bit. The first time i tried to print an excel document, the computer sent some signals to the machine, the LED display read "Printing...." for a while, and then changed to "Printed Cancelled" and the paper was jamed half way in.

After that i've tried clean reinstallation, latest drivers from HP website, checked device manager for the detection and everything. It all appears fine. I can see it at IEEE 1284.4 spots and under Imaging, as well as under the USB tree [in the device manager]. In the printers folder, it appears Ready and set as default. All the softwares are also detecting it as the default printer. So when i check the Printer Status through the HP software that came along with it, it says "Printer Status: Disconnected".

When i try to connect via the HP machine to the computer through the "scan" button, it says no scan options available. For some reason, the computer cant seem to establish two way connection to the printer. I tried the HP website for some help, but no luck, the most they could tell me was to check:

-if my computer was turned on
-if my HP device was turned on
-if the USB chord was properly connected
-if the drivers and software was up-to-date

All of those things are as required. Im really confused now. Im trying to get my hands on another USB chord to eliminate the possibility of defective wiring.

But other than that, has anyone else had this problem? if so whats the solution?
