My oldish VGN-Z1RMP laptop beeps continuously (beep, beep, beep, beep...) at bootup. It looked like a keyboard problem, as the laptop keeps booting straight into BIOS depsite F2 not having been pressed. The Z1 boots fine if I disconnect the keyboard, but obviously I can't put my password in if I do that.

I bought a replacement, supposedly working keyboard off eBay, but I still have the same problem. Anyone got any suggestions, as I don't have another Z1 to check the eBay keyboard in, and I'm wondering if there may be some kind of motherboard fault instead of a bad keyboard?

I tried using switch cleaner on the various ribbon cables on the motherboard, but that didn't help.

Cheers, Jon.
