HI

I dont know why but everytime I try and install any drivers for my new Vaio it says "This is not supported by Vista"

My laptop was working 100% and then after one update the mous pad just stopped working??
After that the sound started to stutter and games just wont start up.
My deu core is basically giving the performance of a pentium 1 with XP.
Even start up is a major issue.
Already checked for Viruses and spyware.
Im going back to XP.But until then can someone please tell me how to install drivers?

Thanks

If i were you find out if all hardware in that laptop is 100% compatable in vista because it is not vista's fault .I can install vista on a 1.8gig amd box runs fine but video card and networkcard is not compatable nothing i could about that at all but buy new hardware (but that was a test ) So don't blame Vista on hardware guys My Windows Experience Index is 5.0 because of video card everything else is above 5.4 .So keep blaming Vista Guys .

Vista is not to blame. Blame Sony since they are a piece of s**t computer company anyway.

did this computer come with Vista on it or did you attempt to upgrade to Vista from XP?

run system restore and go back to before you ran the update. What did you update?

again, restore to before the update and/or manually uninstall whatever it was you did and install the previous version.

Download the appropriate WHQL approved driver for each peice of hardware you have for the version of operating system you are using then double left click on the self installing executable file and follow the prompts if you're given a choice on location or settings and you aren't sure just use the default.

So R G posted back on April 11, and the first response is on May 8.
R G did not post which Sony he/she had.
R G did not post whether or not it was Vista Certified.
R G did not post as to which drivers were causing the problem.
But, even though this is the first time I've seen this thread "pop", the responses are rather less than I'd expect of the HWA community.

Sorry that you have had a bad experience with a Vista upgrade RG.

One of the first things you should do when contemplating an upgrade from XP to Vista is to run the Microsoft upgrade advisor.
If you click on this link you will go to the Vista upgrade site and there you can download a program that you double click on.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorup...visor.mspx
This will give you a very helpful report on what hardware you have that is compatible and what is not compatible.
It may also give you links to the hardware manufacturer of the incompatible hardware so you can see if that manufacturer has provided an updated driver for Vista.

When you get your computer back to the XP load, try running it.
Also, you may or may not know that you may have to increase the memory in your computer to at least 1GB for Vista to run satisfactorially.

Your new core 2 Duo Sony Vaio should have come with two CD's. One will be the Operating system - Windows XP, and the other should be the driver CD.

Only read the manual as a last resort.

I'm pretty sure this is a dead thread.
R G hasn't signed in once since posting the tread on 11 April.... :(

You're probably right, although I can't blame him...the first response wasn't until almost a month later. His post must have been rippled down the 'latest' page really fast that day, and we missed it.

Although...maybe he didn't bump it because he fixed the problem early on.
