Well I suppose the subject sort of sums it up. Imagine, Intel's geek squad put their heads together and create a mega processor for the extreme overclocker. With FSB capabilities like no other and a high multiplier. Imagine they actually got rid of the tacky cooling utensils and gave some proper heatsinks and fans. (Maybe even that diamond paste thing you lot were talking about before). A combination enough to blow the minds of any gamer or computer fanatic.

Ok, it is a bit far-fetched and they may not make much profit or any profit at all. But, it will provide them with a lot of information, maybe enough to create a new breed of CPUs. Intel will gain reputation from many compugeeks around the world and they could also be warning ever-closing AMD what potential it has.

Problem is, is something interesting or amazing like this eve going to happen in the technology world.

>> Re: Imagine: Intel creates Hardcore Overclocker's dream Chip

Overclocking will be a thing of the past, but still an optional choice because....

What you want is Morphing Hardware that learns and grows. For all CPU's and
Chips. It has a life span of only 5 years. It tackles games like say the way Crysis did
with our Dual & Quad and GPU processors. They all struggled to meet the demand
of that game. So these new CPU's and GPU will too struggle to begin with, but then
they learn to adapt for that by working out for themselves how to calculate to run
that software that has suddenly become an obsticle within its path.

Those Procs start off like high end spec CPU's. And with each repetative play of
one particular struggling game, it tackles it like an infant does with puzzle test.
It knows and remembers what it's doing.

It takes only a mere few weeks and within that short space of time, the processors
(CPU & GPU) have now the power to drive that piece of software flawless. Games
like CRYSIS (ok Crysis Part10 cos we're talkin into the future here) now become
as playble as what a high spec PC of today would play DOOM 1.

5 years is the demise of these processors. It's a limit of that CPU's life. It can not
advance anymore. Time for the next upgrade. 5 years is plenty. Hardcore gamers/video
designers today need to upgrade every 6 month to 1 year. These CPU's will save
users thousands but gain the companies who make them unbelievable rewards
and sky high profits.

That one company that now dominates the processor industry is now called....

NvintelMD

Oh and they also bought out MicroSoft too....

CPU's would then have to have a severely high cache memory.

Just dampen the fire Keiran! It's in the future.. cache's are replaced by some other
means. You're meant to add your dream ideas here! :P

But imagine there's no need for RAM and CPU's cache was like 4gb!!! Mega fast probably.

So what are you thinking? Designs of the future. Put's it into perspective. Data goes from the HD to and fro a couple of times before it gets to the processor. If you can cut down all that, you increase performance.

That's Virtual memory not RAM tho. I thought were talking about Processors here? lol

I haven't actually tried overclocking yet, don't wanna fry my system like the last one.

Also, I have seen AMD's burn up when they get too hot and Intel hardly produce smoke.
My last AMD fried up like mad. Processors of the future.

WHAT about reliability and put temperature in the picture too.

Ah i seen that too. That was a test done if the heatsink fan failed. That's not when
overclocking. Heat in the future will be resolved, they'll have nano tech incorporated
into the chips with liquid cooling. Oh the future's bright!!!!!!! hehe

no one will have desktop PCs either.

Phones will do everything we need, plug in a headset and you can plan any game you want.

Also, plug into a virtual seat at your favourite bands concert that's on the other side of the world.

Micro processors need to move away from the binary system. Until that happens, it will pretty much remain twists on the same old story. I find the concept of photon processors quite intriguing which, Intel has been researching. Photon processors can operating in the terahertz with ease.

Did you know that not all scientists are sure whether light travels in waves or in PHOTONS. Is this the photons that you are talking about? Just saying.

PS. Light is the fastest thing known to man. Apparently either the Japanese or Chinese have discovered something faster than light but they do not actually know what it is.

Photons make up all forms of electromagnetic radiation (including light). Photons have some properties of waves and some properties of particles. Photons are unique in that way. Therefore, if a photon processor is produced, it will operate at the edge of current, physics knowledge. Maybe there is something that moves faster than photons in a vacuum but I'll be long dead before it really matters.

Kieran, that'll defo NEVER take off. Phones are doin pretty much that already. Apart
from the Virtual Gig lol which would never take off either. That theory was on the go
when the internet got global and was obtainable everywhere. All of a sudden, we'd never
have to leave our living rooms for shopping, or what ever. Eventually the streets will
be empty cos everyone's doing their electronic shopping,or sitting on the toilet
takin a dump whilst they are at a virtual gig on their Nokia Nanoo 8989A mobile lol.

The element of going to a live gig, or the the shopping, the smells, the socialising
will never be replaced by Virtual. Thank fook! Am not havin a dig at you Kieran, just
the subject you broughtup that's all . I thought it was a good cue to comment about
the virtual reality thing.. it's so 80's.

The thing is, I'd rather use a PC than a Mobile. And, true, virtual cannot beat Reality.
