Other than WoW, what other games do you play? If you're not playing the latest and greatest games (Crysis, Assassin's Creed, etc) then you really don't need that kind of horse power.

I haven't checked prices recently, but I'm pretty sure you can get a comparable Intel Quad Core for less money. I'm at work, though, and I don't have time to check.

My opinion is that if you are building a new system you should go with Intel. To my knowledge AMD has yet to produce a quad core that is as fast as Intel's slowest quad (Q6600) and they seem to have less overclocking headroom to boot. There really is no getting around it from a performance standpoint current gen Intel stuff is just superior to everything AMD has to offer.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 3.2GHz
Asus Rampage Formula
8GB OCZ 1066MHz DDR2
eVGA 8800GT @ 675/1950
SB X-Fi
2x 150GB Raptors in RAID 0

Right now, and for the next few quaters it is Intel that leads the roost.
The only rational for going AMD right now is if you have AMD and are just doing an incremental upgrade to your existing infrastructure.
Right now, all new infrastructure/systems should be Intel for the best bang or for the best bang for the buck.
