I just recently sold my computer and am re-building. I just purchased an AMD Phenom 9600, and am looking for a motherboard. I'm looking at motherboards that have the AMD A780G chipset, and am wondering if my nVidia 7600GT will work on this motherboard. Has anyone tried this??? I'm not concerned about graphic performance. Thanks.

Yes it will work. On a side note, you shouldn't have purchased AMD X4 Phenom 9600, but rather new Phenom Processors with B3 stepping as they've fix for TLB erratum and have better performance in games. Following benchmarks shows their performance in gaming.

Funnily enough, AMD Athlon X2 6400+ at 3.2GHz would still be better choice over even new Phenom Processor as far as gaming is concerned, almost on par or better than Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 at stock frequency of 2.40GHz, oh boy! I feel lucky XD

I actually don't do any gaming, but most of what I do is software development and virtualization with VMware server. The only reason I got the Phenom 9600 was because it was only $140. Thanks for the info, I remember a couple of years back, this would have been a problem.

Those new Phenom Processors are still faster, though considering the price you paid for it, I think its a fair deal anyways :)

All the best!
