Here's the link for the demo of RaceGRiD Demo.

The demo offers 3 events to compete in. The eBay Motors Muscle Cup sees you taking the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT-R and the streets of San Francisco, the Advan International Trophy hands you a Nissan S15 Silvia and your playground is Yokohama Docks, and the Euro Touring Car Series provides some old-school tin-top thrills with a BMW 320si touring car and the sweeping curves and hairpins of Jarama.

>> Re: RaceGRiD Driver Demo... Released

Wow this is amazing! This runs slick as hell. If your current system can run
DiRT flawlessly, then your laughing. This is slick as hell. This is the way
NFS ProStreet should have been and played. It's fast and very very playable indeed.
And that's all setting maxed out. The graphics are gorgeous, and the cars look
amazing. The detail is well done, and the effects are sweet as. I hated Pro Street
for the playability. The cars steered like lead cars would, but the graphically that
game was sweet eye candy. But the lack of playability sucked.

GRiD you can just pick up and play instantly. And it's loads of fun. You can
do the Toca style, Drift mode, and the other one is another type of race.
The replays are loadsa fun you can manipulate them and do as you please.
And that's just the demo. So that's not bad, three tracks to play with for a demo.
Also there is the Multi Player mode, which I haven't tried yet, but just about to.

The "flashback" thing is quite cool - but i've seen this before in another car game
that I have,but can't remember what it's called - this's where if you crash,
you can rewind "time" if you will and have a chance to change your actions.

I'm gonna have a lot of fun playin this. EA should take note of this game's playabilties,
and also take note of Dirt.

There's one flaw I've came across almost instantly, and that's the controls.
And this happened on DIRT too. The default for xbox controllers, is to use the Z
buttons for accelerate, and brake/reverse which is somthing I don't like.
I prefer the analogue sticks for better control. Y for accelerate/brake reverse, X for
steering (same as default obviously). The default control for XBOX controllers
can be used in the menus. But when I edit the controller, I lose the functionality
of the menus with my new controller set up, and have to use the arrow keys, and enter
same as what happened in Dirt. Not good cos that meant I'd have to revert back
to keyboard for options, etc. I thought CodeMasters woulda sorted that. Obviously NOT!

Not too keen on the muddy coloured graphics tho.

Gonna try out the MP now...

Downloading now! Thanks for the link!

According to Codemasters the demo is online?

Codemasters Description Says:
Charge a Ford Mustang GTR muscle car through the iconic streets of San Francisco, race a BMW 320Si in the Jarama Touring Car Race and
drift around the docks of Yokohama in a Nissan Silvia S15. Race against 11 friends on your favorite track and test your mettle online or prove yourself in the single player game.

Nice! I am looking forward to playing online. Hopefully there will be some good servers in my area so I won't ping too high.

I will be using the Logitech Dual Action analog controller to play this game.

This game is pretty amazing, as far as visuals go. It is very intense, and the smoke effects from burnouts is the best I have seen in any racing game yet. One of the first racing games to actually get smoke to look right. It can be played both in an arcade style (more like NFS series) or more of a simulation style (such as Gran Turismo) based on the settings you choose. This is making me want to buy a racing wheel for my PC (or at the very least a Xbox 360 Wireless adapter for PC). You really can not play a racing game with a keyboard, and it's even annoying on my cheap little $15 USB gamepad.

I played this game for about two hours. The graphics are stunning and most importantly, it is fun and challenging. I enjoyed playing this demo much more than any Need For Speed game I have played in the past (I have been playing NFS since Hot Pursuit). Although not as realistic as GTR2 or the Gran Turismo series I find this game much more interesting. The damage system is the best I have ever seen in a racing game. Damage is very well modeled and realistically effects performance. The AI is NOT on a predefined track and will react to the way you drive. For example, if you jam the brakes right in front of an opponent they will try to avoid a collision. It is also great to see the AI make mistakes on turns once in a while as well. The AI generally drives very cautiously and tries to avoid any collisions. I also like the flashback feature which allows one to reverse time and fix mistakes. Overall this demo is incredibly fun and I look forward to purchasing the full version of the game when it is released.

With the specs below, I can play this game @ 1400x900, all High Settings, multi sampling set to 2x and achieve a very playable and steady framerate of about 25fps. I can not stress how steady the framerate is. It doesn't matter how many cars or how many wonderful effects are on the the screen. The framerate is constantly around 25fps. Keep in mind this is a racing game and therefore 25fps is very playable and does not take away from the gameplay. The enormous amount of detail and effects more than make up for playing the game with 25fps. On medium settings at the same resolution I get a steady 30fps. Basically expect a slightly better performance that you got in DiRT. There are times when when the replays look almost photo realistic.

The Drift mode was fun but my favorite was the Mustang and BMW races. I have yet to play this game online.

Good work Codemasters!

This really sux, but the custom controls on my controller gives me major bother.
Like I mentioned earlier on this thread, if you alter your controller settings in custom,
then the controller is rendered useless in the menu. You then have to use the arrow
keys and enter for using the menu. That totally sucks big time!

For example, when you custom your controller, and then say you choose graphic
options, to get to advanced settings (you'd normally use the Y button IF you didn't
customise your controller) you have to press the UP ARROW KEY which is stupid
because you already use this to navigate the menu?!?!?!?!? So I have no way
of getting to Advanced (actually i set the advanced before i customised my controller)
and which brings me to my main concern and problem...

I need that UP ARROW Key to get me to participate in the online game.
I just got kicked cos i had no way of clicking Ready to Race. Which means I'd have
to set my controller back to default settings (Z Buttons for accelerate, etc) which
i just don't like. I like to use the analogue sticks for more precision steering and
control.

This's something that Codemasters will not change, since it happened in DiRT too.
What a pain in the arse. I mean why use the Up Arrow key as an option buttton
when they know fine the arrow keys are used to navigate. FFS!!

I agree. It is very annoying not being able to use the controller to manipulate the menu system.

It also took me a few minutes to figure that the "UP ARROW" was referring to the Shift button. :|

I was playing online earlier. My username is Gonsalves. What is your username?
The online is very fluid and I do no notice very much lag. However there are many racers online who drive to aggressively and usually end up totaling their car as well as others. :O One problem I have with the online is their is no Friends List. I hope they add that in the retail version of the game. It would make racing with friends much easier!

I am going to play right now! :D

Yea I'm PhuxAche. I sent you some msgs, but don't think you got them.
Yea I agree about the aggressiveness. It's a pain. The servers are ultra slick.
But they would be for the demo. See what happens when the game comes out lol.

I did not get any of your messages. A complaint I have about the game is how people can't join the sessions which I create. I waited for 3 minutes and nobody joined my session.

As for race type, I prefer to race the BMW320SI's online. I don't like the way the Ford Mustang's handle. :P
