Hi,
I need a copy of the “Drivers & Utilities” / “Utility CD-ROM” for Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo Series L Windows XP Home Edition Desktop PC.

Fujitisu Siemen’s Website PC Ref:
Scaleo L C 260 1 256MB VSM 40G DVD/CDRW XPHuk

Motherboard: ASUS P4GE-FSC

I am not on the internet at home so I cannot just download the drivers. Through I have tried to do this manually. I have tried a couple of companies to try source an new one. I was supplied this PC second hand, it came with all disks, Windows XP apart from the driver CD. Which is causing me a headache, as the machine is unusable. Since I have had it, it kept crashing so often, that I had to re-install Windows XP, as it destroyed itself. The last 2 months, the machine has not been used at all. Since as soon as you do anything, it falls on its arse. Things that trigger crash include fast scrolling through a large word document. Hardware acceleration? The drivers missing according to the device manager include sound and video graphics drivers.

I just wonder if there is anyone out there who owns this machine and could supply me with a copy of the damn disk one way or another.

Regards

Martin Clark

Hello Martin. Chances are Fujitsu Siemens Computers stopped producing copies of that driver CD therefore you will have to resort to using the internet (try a internet cafe).

Go here:
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/support/index.html

Enter your computers serial number which should be located on your case (external).

Then simply go to the "driver" section for your computer, download all required drivers and burn then to a disc which you could use for your PC at home which does not have internet.

I think you should run some basic diagnostics. You may have more of a problem than just missing/invalid drivers.

I'd suggest getting UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) which contains CPU, memory, and other system and device tests, including memtest, memtest86+, and so on. Sorry, but I think this one may be download only. Can't remember for sure so you may want to check out the website.

You could also try Knoppix repair CD/DVD. You can download for free, but I think you can also order one for minimum cost.

http://www.knoppix.org

For example, you can boot off the Knoppix CD, and then open a document using Open Office (included on the CD) and see if you run into the same types of problems.

To the first reply, i.e downloading manually, i have already tried to do this.It doesn't work. It is not clear what drivers are required. And since them of them are not even in english, it seems a game of luck. And once a wrong driver has been installed. You seem to be stuck with it.

To the second reply, I did try to repair Windows using a Knoppix CD, but I eventually gave up, since it was evident there was so many files corrupted, i was just wasting my time.

However, I will try the other suggestions.

Thank you both for your replies.

Regarding my post at
http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/71474/#535696

I just found out the majorgeeks download link points (erroneously) to the UBCD4Windows download and not the self-booting UBCD download.

majorgeeks by mistake put the same download link in both the UBCD and UBCD4Windows web-pages.

You don't want to get the UBCD4win version...you want the bootable version that doesn't rely on the Windows OS.

So, use the correct link at the UBCD website.
http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/download.html
(You can download the Version4.11 .iso image, the self-extracting .exe file, or a .zip file.from this page. The self-extracting .exe is 87mb vs. 115mb for the .iso file...which could make a significant download time difference on a slow download connection)

edit-add more info on download from sourceforge.net
