This is very wierd. Sometimes the internet explorer will get stuck in loading a webpage. I will have to close internet explorer and re-open it and it will start working again properly. Other times that does not work and I will have to restart. I know this isn't an online connection problem because i can surf freely on my other computer.

I think this has to do something with internet explorer or windows vista.

I noticed this a month or two ago after a MS upgrade/patch Tuesday release.
I had to roll back to the previous restore point in order for this to go away.
Having said that, I also patched Adobe and Quicktime during the same period.
I've since done at least one MS patch Tuesday, and have the latest Adobe and Quicktime patches in place, so this may have been a one time deal.

In my case I could open my.msn.com, but it took about 5 minutes for the site to come up...after that all other sites came up well. After the rollback and repatch, everything is working well....for now.

Can you please list step by step what you did? I don't mind removing some updates to have the internet explorer working properly again.

Thanks

I've been seeing web-page "glitches" with both IE and Firefox on my Vista test system. However, I've also had particular problems with Adobe Flash and possibly Java upgrades not working right...which can definitely affect web-page processing.

Adobe Flash upgrade procedure and extra requirements:

To see if there's any effect, or to narrow down possible causes of your problem...

Something you might try is to disable Java and Flash processing. Java enable/disable settings of course, is via the tools options route. For example, in Firefox, you might try this:
Tools>>options>>content
Set these as shown
Check......block pop-up windows
Uncheck..load images automatically
Uncheck..enable javascript
Uncheck..enable java

With Firefox, you can also prevent Flash automatically loading and playing by using an add-on called "Stop Autoplay". This requires that if you want it, you must manually authorize playing the Flash object.

You can also change the permitted Flash security settings by typing "about:config" in the URL location field and modifying one of the parameters. Unfortunately, I can't recall at this time which parameter it is...but its values ranged from 0 to 3, I think, with 0 being the most strict, meaning no Flash objects would load.

Perhaps someone else will remember the name of the parameter?
