Probably 6-bit TN Panel with poor viewing angles and poor color re-production. I do not recommend any LCD monitor with that budget, but that's just me only.

Actually Dan you should be able to get a good monitor for that money.

20"LCD Monitor
Iiyama Prolite E2003WSV-B1
1680x1050 Rez
2ms Respon
Widescreen..
£134
PROBLEM - NO DVI - but you should be able to get the convertor.

19" TFT Monitor
Hannspree XM New York
Widescreen
REZ 1440x900
CONTRAST 700:1 300cd/m2
RESPO 5ms
DVI
Speakers
3 Years Warranty
£101
PROBLEMS - Not really a known company to me, but they get good reviews, the lower contrast and a 5 MS responce time, the Rez Is a little low. dont exspect much with it. like DVI cable or UK plug, but its all stanadard fit.

Digimate L2231WD
22" TFT LCD Monitor
1680x1050
300cd/m2 1000:1
5ms
16:9 Widescreen
VGA/DVI
3 Years onsite Warranty
£135

Problems - Aparently the LED on teh frint may be a little bright. The responce time is 5ms.
out of the monitors this is the one I would take, though I dont know the name there dosent seem to be any issues with them.

Check for Acer LCD's they make good monitors and are very affordable.

For gaming you should search for 5ms or anything lower.

Supreet, while they might not be as good as the higher-end LCD monitors, they are actually pretty decent. Most people won't be able to notice much difference between them and higher end ones. Also accurate color is not something a gamer really needs in a budget monitor.

My dad recently purchased a Dell 19" Widescreen LCD that he got for $120 USD. When I went to set it up for him, I was quite impressed. I was expecting an analog only cheapo LCD monitor. I was wrong, it had both DVI and VGA ports. I hooked up to the DVI port on his ATI X300SE and it looks pretty awesome for a budget LCD. It's bright, the colors look good to me, the viewing angles are pretty decent, and there was no dead pixels or any problems I noticed. So yes, I think you can get a decent LCD these days for cheap.

I don't know, I'm just not entertained by cheapo LCD "TN" panels, that's the reason I'm still on CRT, to me its far better with CRT rather than having one of those with crappy TN panels and yet stupid like viewing angles.

Anyway, I mentioned in my post "that's just me maybe".

I had Viewsonic 19" WS for 2-3 days few years back and that time I was playing Splinter Cell (don't remember which one) and there was one very dark level in that game, while on LCD it was horrendously dark (which it shouldn't) even with maximum Brightness and Contrast while on CRT it was amazing. You could still see rocks in dark on CRT, while on LCD those rocks or walls whatever were completely missing.

Hah! those monitors are fukcking joke

of course CRT is better for gaming but it strains the eyes a lot more than LCDs, i'm still rocking a CRT my self. but as the saying goes, beggers can't be choosers.

I'm a chooser, CRT is still better than those monitors above. Out of my savings I could afford five of those monitors above, yet I'm sticking with CRT.

CRT doesn't STRAIN your eyes, pull down the brightness to 22, colors 65K, contrast 75.
