There are some suggestions on a similar thread here: http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/18140/

You may also want to look into Hiren's Boot CD, it has several utilities which remove BIOS passwords.

It is very difficult to troubleshoot hardware problems when one is not there, so I understand what you mean about going to your country.

I did not understand very well what you said. So now that you did get to reset the BIOS, it tells you that the BIOS needs to be configured, and then prompts you for a password.

Does this mean you have removed the power on password but now the laptop has established a BIOS password?

As the owner its always important to know your warranty coverage. If it is still under warranty, the first thing you should have done is called Toshiba, they would have assisted you on removing the BIOS password. Call them, but do not tell them you opened it, just tell them you need assistance and let them know exactly what is going on, don't tell them about what you have done, just explain the problem.

I know this does not sound right, but they mat refuse to help you if you tell them you took the laptop apart.

This will reset your password on this model!!!!!!! I could not find any information anywhere on how to do this that was right so i just figured it out on my own. You have to take the motherboard completely out of the laptop and turn it over. there u will find the battery, unsolder it and wait half hour and then resolder it. After you put it all back together there will be NO BIOS PASSWORD guarenteed!!!!!!

there is a spot labeld j4 under the ram. If you look cloely its actually two pieces of metal very close to eachother. short them to a ground like the ram chasis with a paperclip or other conductor and start the computer while they're shorted wait 5 seconds, turn it off, put the ram back in and turn it on.

Thank you no no for that information on J4 under the RAM. It worked great for resetting my A215-S4757! I shorted the J4 contacts to the chassis with my PC pliers.

Thanks again!

same as you Adam Smith, this was the solution for the BIOS problem, take off the RAM and you will see the J4 contacts short them to the chassis, turn on for 5 to 10 seconds, turn off... then put the memory RAM back again, turn on and thats it. THANKS

Saved my ass. Thank you. I located the J4 chip under the RAM modules. Couldn't find a paperclip, used a broken RC Car remote control antenna. Bent it to ground against RAM chassis. No more BIOS PASSWORD !!!! YIPPEE
